13 Jun 2008 - Part 2: Fruit Farm

We were exhausted after the ostrich farm tour. So we took a rest in our villa before we embarked on another tour to the fruit farm at about 4pm. While waiting for the minibus at the lobby, we took some pictures with Jerlene.
The Fruit Farm is much nearer to our hotel as compared to the ostrich farm. When we reached the fruit farm, the walking tour was just about to start. We gained quite a fair bit of knowledge regarding tropical fruits during the tour. Below are some photos taken on the walking tour.
There was a Koi pond in the farm with hundreds of Koi swimming around. We were allowed to put our hand into the pond and let the Koi suck on our hand. Some Koi even tried to swallow my finger. The feeling is quite weird.
At the end of the farm tour, there is a mini zoo. We were again very tired after the walking tour. We went back to the farm entrance and bought some local products at the shop. As we were all very tired, we called for room service for dinner.

Hello there,

I stumbled upon your blog addy at SMH forum. Hope u don't mind me intruding :)

You've got a very sweet daughter and it's heartwarming to read a father's voice. Keep blogging!

May I know how much did you have to pay for a night stay at this Desaru Hotel? How was the hotel food? Hygenic to feed Jerlene with? or did you BYO some food for her? How about the drinking water? Did the hotel supply you with Distilled water or?

I thought it's quite a nice place to bring my daughter there too. Hope you could help with my queries..

Cheers!

Hi Brenda,
Sorry for responding so late as I just notice your comment.

I paid S$277 in total for two nights stay in an executive villa of Golden Beach Hotel. The price also include daily breakfast, 2 return ferry tickets and 2 return land transfer.

When we were there, only one restaurant was opened. The food was quite ok. We brought instant porridge for Jerlene but she already started eating "outside" food. We also brought our own boiling kettle (small one) as we are not sure of the condition of the one provided by the hotel.

The place is a bit deserted so for short stay, it's ok but if for long stay (more than 3D2N), it can be quite boring.
