14 May 2013 - Hong Kong Day 3: Switching from Hollywood to Novotel Hotel

We will be checking out of Disney Hollywood Hotel today.  So after breakfast, we decided to spend sometimes explore the surrounding hotel compound.  Swimming pool was the first place where we went.  Actually I'm expecting the pool to have some Disney themes but it's just a normal pool.  Having said that, the kids still had a great time splashing around.
After we changed, we continued on to explore the other parts of the hotel.  There is an area where two vintage cars or rather "ex-movie" cars are parked for visitors to take photos.  Jerlene and Javier were busy snapping away.
The next moment, we suddenly felt raindrops falling.  We quickly went to a nearby playground to hide from the rain.  It was just drizzle and very soon, it stopped.  We put the raincoat on for the kids just in case it rained again.
We took a last look of the hotel and spent sometimes at the gift shops before taking a taxi to our next accomodation, Novotel Citygate Hotel at Tung Chung (东涌).
Novotel Citygate is just 10mins drive away from Disney hotels.  During the ride, the taxi driver said that this is a good place to shop, especially at the Citygate Outlets which is connected next to the hotel.  He said that many people came here to shop because the price here is cheaper than that in Hong Kong city area.  Furthermore around this Tung Chung region, there is currently a major road/bridge construction to connect directly to Macau (澳门) and Zhuhai (珠海).  It is expected to complete and launch in year 2016.
The hotel room was pretty big and very comfortable.  There is a big bathtub in the toilet which is separated from the room by a big glass panel.  Of course there is a sliding wooden door that can block the "toilet view" from the room.
From our hotel room, we can look across to the cable car station whereby the cable cars will bring visitors all the way up to Ngong Ping where the Big Buddha is.  We will probably go there tomorrow.
After taking some rest at the hotel room, we went down to Citygate Outlets to look see look see.  When we were tired, we stopped by Pacific Coffee to have some snacks and refreshment.  Jerlene and Javier enjoyed their cup of Chocolate Paradise, which is mainly Ice Blended Chocolate.
In the evening, we walked over to another smaller mall linked by a bridge called the Fu Tong Mall (富东商场).  It is an older mall but there are a few good eating place as listed below.
We had our dinner at Cafe De Coral (大家乐).  In Singapore, the kids don't really like chicken meat but here, they were feasting on the 白斩鸡 and 卤鸡翅 (braised chicken wings).  The soup was delicious and cheap (HKD5.00) when it comes together in a set meal.  We all enjoyed the dinner very much.  Before we returned to "803", another code word by Javier, we went down to the market (街市) to have a look.
In the next few days, we will be exploring this area more.  :-)
