31 May 2015 - The Four

The four kids were playing Wii and guess what games they were playing?
They were playing synchronized swimming!  I simply love to watch kids playing Wii......  Watch the following video and you will get what I mean.  :-)

30 May 2015 - Fireworks at SEA GAMES 2015 opening ceremony preview

SEA Games 2015 will start in a week's time and today was the rehearsal for the grand opening ceremony.  As it was held at the new Kallang National Stadium, we were able to watch the fireworks very clearly from our place.

30 May 2015 - Swim Start and Back Floating

In today's swimming class, Jerlene and Javier started learning how to swim start and do back float.
Javier's first swim start was so comical but he improved on his second try.  Jerlene also did pretty well after a few tries.  Both their back float still needs some training as they can only stay afloat for a few seconds.  They probably need to tilt their head more backwards.

29 May 2015 - Cultural Dance Performance by Class P2 Dextrous of Rosyth School

In this year's Rosyth School Curriculum Day, Jerlene's class (P2 Dextrous) was selected to perform Cultural Dance on stage.  They learnt all the dance moves during their PAL programme once a week.
In general, somehow I think the girls danced better than the boys.  They were able to follow the rhythm more precisely and their movement were more graceful.  Jerlene did pretty well too, probably due to the training in her Ballet and Chinese Dance lessons.  Nevertheless, the entire class had done very well!  Great effort from all students of P2 Dextrous and thanks to the teachers too.

Here's the full video of the performance.

29 May 2015 - Rosyth School Curriculum Experience Day 2015

It was Rosyth School Curriculum Experience Day today and we all went with Jerlene to her school.  She brought us around the school to the various stalls setup by school alumni and parent volunteers.  Javier will be admitted to this school next year so it's good to get him familiarised with the environment.
I met with one of my old friend whose daughter had just transferred to Rosyth school.  Meet up with the two pretty princesses.
Before dismissal, we went to an English game stall where the children got to answer questions.  If answered correctly, they got to play the game called "Ruzzle" on the IPAD setup in the classroom.
Javier also participated in the game and he got some help from Jerlene.

24 May 2015 - We "owned" the entire Legoland Malaysia

We made the right choice to go Legoland today as we almost had the entire theme park to ourselves.  Look at the following photos and videos, can you see anybody else except us?  It's good for us since we did not have to queue for any ride but it will be a big concern to the theme park management.
When we drove into Malaysia this afternoon, clearing the custom was a breeze but going back, we were caught in a jam for more than an hour.  Fortunately, the jam was only at the Malaysian custom.  It was very smooth at the Singapore side.

24 May 2015 - LEGO® Friends musical performance

LEGO® Friends Live is a musical show about the magic of friendship. This is the first ever LEGO® Friends musical performance in Asia! Catch the girls live at the newly refurbished, fully air-conditioned LEGO City Stage and dance & sing along as they showcase their famed musical talents and perform original LEGO Friends songs!
It was quite a good show and highly recommended.  This musical performance will end in July and hurry down soon if you do not want to miss it.

24 May 2015 - LEGO® Academy and LEGO® MINDSTORMS®

In about one week's time, school holiday will start.  As such, we decided to go Legoland today so that we will not meet the crowd starting next week.  Going into Malaysia was a breeze and we did not have to queue at both Singapore and Malaysia customs at all.  In fact, the entire journey to Legoland was less than an hour.

In this visit, we decided to try out a few attractions that we have not tried before.  First we went to LEGO® Academy where kids will build educational LEGO® model in a fully air-conditioned room.
The theme for Legoland this month is Lego Star Wars.  "May" the force be with you!
So Jerlene and Javier got to build models such as R2D2 and X-Wing Star Fighter.
At the end of the session, they were even presented with Certificates of Participation.
Next Jerlene and me went over to LEGO® MINDSTORMS® which is just next door.  For this activity, you need to sign up beforehand and the minimum age is 8 years old.  Here, we were going to program the movement of Lego robot to complete two missions.  It was similar to the Robotics class that Jerlene attended in school previously.  Basically, we can program the robot to move forward, turn left or right and actions such as slash or shoot.  We got to estimate the distance to travel and degree of turning.
Let's see how our robot perform.

23 May 2015 - Javier managed to swim the full length of the pool

Javier made a very big achievement today. He managed to swim the full length of the pool without any assistance! Though not in proper freestyle, his determination was admirable. Well done, Javier! You just need to improve on your strokes now. :-)

17 May 2015 - Beautiful sunset at Punggol Settlement

After our dinner, we walked back to Punggol Jetty and just in time to catch the sunset.  This is Jerlene and Javier's first time watching a sunset.  It was beautiful!
We had a wonderful time here at Punggol Settlement today.  Will come back more often in future.

17 May 2015 - Punggol Ranch and Curry Garden@Punggol

From Punggol Jetty Park, we decided to walk over to the nearby Punggol Ranch.
This is Singapore's only horse farm stay in exclusive wagon rooms (below).  Activities here include pony feeding, pony rides, horse shoe throwing and other team building games.  It is Singapore's version of a cowboy town.
As it's coming to 6pm, we decided to have our dinner at Curry Gardenn @ Punggol.  It's an Indian restaurant with a cowboy theme.
The price is a bit on the high side compared to other Prata shops but the taste is quite good.
I ordered a Chicken Dum Bryani and it's one of the best bryani I've tasted so far.

17 May 2015 - Cycling at Punggol Settlement

We were back at Punggol Settlement today.  This time round with Jerlene and Javier.  We brought along their bicycle for them to cycle along the Punggol Park Connector.
We made a stop at a resting point as we looked across the straits where Malaysia is.
When we cycled back to the park, everyone was perspiring.  And guess what, we have a Korean star with us.  Just look at Javier's stylo milo hairstyle!!!!
I can see that they were very tired after cycling but the moment they saw the playground, somehow their energy got regenerated immediately.  Amazing.......

15 May 2015 - Lightning brighten up the sky

It's going to be a stormy night.  Managed to capture a few lightning shots.  The lightning is scary and yet beautiful, isn't it?

10 May 2015 - Hand made flower for mommy

Jerlene gave mommy a flower made by herself using colored papers, a straw and paper clips for mother's day.
This is how it looks like at close range.  She's going to make more for grandma, 奶奶, 大姑姑 and 小姑姑.  Happy Mother's Day to all mommies!

2 May 2015 - Our favourite song at the moment: 煎熬

In the past one week, every time when Jerlene and Javier stepped into my car, they will make a request:"Papa, CD 3 Track 10, and Track Repeat".  They somehow are crazy about a Mandarin song called "煎熬" sang by a Malaysian female singer 李佳薇.  This is a very difficult song to sing with a tremendously high pitch during the chorus.  Throughout the journey, we will listen to this one song over and over again till we reached our destination.  Let's hear how they sang in the following video.

I have finally done up our Taiwan holiday video about 5 months after our trip.  Hope you will enjoy it!  :-)
