31 Mar 2018 - Celebrate Javier's Birthday at Swenson

Year after year, Jerlene and Javier have been asking for the same thing on their birthday.  And that is, a meal at Swenson!
Happy Birthday, my boy!  Hope you enjoyed the day!
As usual, we got a free ice cream (Firehouse) from Swenson for Javier's birthday and he ordered his usual "Topless 5" and shared with Jerlene.  This time they did not ordered 5 scoops of cookies & cream.  They ordered 3 scoops of cookies & cream and 2 scoops of vanilla.
Time for a family wefie!

31 Mar 2018 - BOUNCE Singapore Trampoline Park

Javier had turned 9 years old today.  So after Jerlene's ballet exam, we brought them to their favourite place, a Trampoline Park.  The one where we used to go to at Serangoon Gardens is no longer in existence.  As such, we went to a more popular one at Orchard Cineleisure called BOUNCE Singapore.
This is a much bigger trampoline park and it has more activities.  Jerlene and Javier had thoroughly enjoyed the session.

31 Mar 2018 - BBO Ballet (Grade 3) Exam

Jerlene took her Grade 3 Ballet examination today.  She seemed relax before the exam which was great!
These little ballerinas below doing their warm up exercises before entering the studio for the actual exam.
They were more worried with the theory test than the exercises.  However, when they came out from the exam studio, they were relieved because the theory questions weren't as difficult as they had expected.

30 Mar 2018 - Popular Bookshop Warehouse Sale

On our way home, we passed by the Popular Bookstore's warehouse sale.  We decided to drive in and take a look.  As we walked into the assessment books section, Jerlene and Javier started choosing those that suit their levels for every subjects.
There was a long queue for payment but it's moving fast because there were many cashier counters.

30 Mar 2018 - Birthday Party at Island Bowl

Jerlene and Javier attended a friend's birthday party at a bowling centre in Island Country Club this afternoon.

18 Mar 2018 - Get Wet at Sentosa's FunFest

Today is the last day of Sentosa's FunFest 2018.  After all the excitement with Luge and Skybridge, Jerlene and Javier can't wait to get themselves soaking wet at Palawan Beach.  They spent quite a while in the foam pool which seemed fun!
Among the highlights of FunFest 2018 is a 50-metre long Aquaplane. There was a long queue but their patience paid off.
After all the fun at the beach, Jerlene and Javier decided to spend some swashbuckling time at the free Palawan Pirate Ship water playground.
It was a great family outing today and we should plan more of such activities in future.

18 Mar 2018 - AJ Hackett Sentosa Skybridge

At 47m above the ground, the AJ Hackett Sentosa Skybridge was created to allow people of all ages to challenge and overcome that age-old fear of heights that causes everyone to get vertigo.
We took the lift up to level 17 and had a superb view of the surrounding.
Next to Skybridge is Wave House where people surf on the artificial waves.
Along the Skybridge, Jerlene and Javier tried stepping on the see-through glass floor which looks scary.
We also witnessed people trying out the one and only Bungy Jump in Singapore.

18 Mar 2018 - Skyline Luge Sentosa

After we had enough photos taken with "We Bare Bears", we decided to try out the Skyline Luge.  Rated as one of the most thrilling and unique Singapore attractions, Skyline Luge is a gravity-fuelled ride that provides riders full control over their descent on purpose-built tracks.
At the moment, there is a promotion for locals where we can purchase a Luge/Skyride combo ticket for S$25.  The combo ticket includes a Luge ride and a Skyride.  Furthermore, with every 4 Luge Ride tickets purchased, we can get free admission to the nearby Skybridge.
We took the Skyride to the top of the Luge track, then Luge down one of the four different tracks.
On our way up to the top over the rainforest canopy, we had a very good view of the surrounding.
Initially, Jerlene and Javier were a bit nervous but after the first ride, they started enjoying it.
After we did two Luge rides, we took a short ice-cream break at McDonalds before finishing the remaining two rides.
It was really fun and we will be back again, probably during the night next time.  :-)

18 Mar 2018 - Cartoon Network’s We Bare Bears @ Sentosa

Today is the last day of March school holiday.  As such, we decided to bring Jerlene and Javier to Sentosa to have some fun.  They got excited when we saw so many We Bare Bears around.
More than 300 inflatable bears from Cartoon Network’s We Bare Bears have been installed all around Palawan Green and Palawan Beach.
At the middle of Palawan Green stood a 50-feet inflatable tall stack of Grizzly, Panda, and Ice Bear.
There are several photo spots where there were staff helping visitors to take photos with the Bears!
This was just the start of our fun day at Sentosa.  Check out the following few posts.  :-)

17 Mar 2018 - Flowers and Vegetables

It's time to check out our roof garden.  Our Desert Rose (富贵花) started blooming again.
There seems to be more flowers than leaves at this moment.
Let's now take a look at our vegetables.  Firstly, this is our chilli plant.
 And our cherry tomatoes.
Trying out something new this time.  Below are the leaves of Bitter Gourd.  Let's see if we will be able to harvest something in 1-2 months time.  :-)

13 Mar 2018 - Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Preview

Parents were invited to a SYF Preview in Rosyth School to preview their children's performance.  We were there to watch Jerlene performed together with her peers in Chinese Orchestra.
The Multi-Purpose Hall was packed with people and I can see the hard work put in by all the students and teachers.  Well done, all!

12 Mar 2018 - Swimsafer Stage 5 (Silver) Exam

This afternoon, Jerlene and Javier took to the pool at Toa Payoh Swimming Complex to take their swimming exam to complete their Silver stage.
At this stage, they will need to demonstrate the fundamental of diving, development of rescue skills and personal water survival skills. They will also be required to demonstrate efficient stroke techniques to complete the Silver stage.

10 Mar 2018 - Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) @ Singapore Conference Hall

This year, Jerlene will be participating in Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) together with Rosyth Chinese Orchestra.  Today they had a practice at Singapore Chinese Orchestra Co Ltd, Singapore Conference Hall.
Other than Rosyth School, there are other school's Chinese Orchestra here having their practice as well.
As we were unable to enter the concert hall to watch their practice, we wandered around the outside of the hall.  There were quite a number of musical instrument from ancient China on display.
After Jerlene's practice, we walked across the road to Downtown Gallery and had our lunch at Express by Chatterbox.  Their chicken rice though expensive, it's really tasty.  We all enjoyed it.

4 Mar 2018 - Grade 3 Ballet Mock Exam

In about 3 weeks time, Jerlene will be taking her Ballet (Grade 3) Exam.  Today we were invited to the dance studio to watch Jerlene practice in a mock exam.
Here's a video of her practice.  Looks good.  :-)
