14 Sep 2025 - Flower Dome (Gardens by the Bay)

We visited Flower Dome this afternoon together with Jerlene and one of her best friends. Javier was busy preparing for his upcoming exams and did not join us. Nestled within our iconic Gardens by the Bay, the Flower Dome is more than a charming greenhouse. It is a feat of horticultural engineering and botanical wonder. With its cooled conservatory climate (kept around 23–25 °C) and specially designed glass panels that balance light intake with thermal control, the Flower Dome brings together flora from Mediterranean, arid, and other temperate zones.
From 8 September to 12 October 2025, the Flower Dome is transformed via Alpine Adventure Starring Begonias, a first-of-its-kind Swiss-inspired floral display that marries botanical spectacle with cultural storytelling.
This exhibit is a bold blend of tropical horticulture and temperate alpine aesthetics. Conjuring the charm of Swiss alpine villages inside a tropical city is a creative triumph.
Over half the plants were cultivated on-site, which is a testament to the Gardens’ horticultural capabilities and dedication.
The Succulent Garden offers a fascinating look into how plants survive in arid places, adapted to very little water, strong sunlight, and often rocky or harsh soil.
The Flower Dome is always a place of wonders, but by weaving together Succulent Garden and Alpine Adventure, it offers something even richer: contrasts of climate, form, texture, colour, and storytelling. It’s not only about seeing “pretty flowers,” but seeing how life adapts, survives and thrives whether in a desert or on a mountain slope.
