29 Apr 2025 - NGO Day 4: Embark on a Journey to Tateyama Snow Wall

One of the key highlights of our Nagoya trip is to visit Tateyama Snow Wall.  We arrived early (7am) at the meeting place inside ESCA Mall, Nagoya Station.  Once all passengers were accounted for, our Japanese tour guide led us to our bus with pre-assigned seats.  Our long journey towards the snow wall started at 7:20am sharp.
At the early part of the journey, we passed by urban skyline of Aichi Prefecture with many residential and industrial buildings.  Then we came by a huge Ferris wheel right outside of the World Freshwater Aquarium.
As the bus moves into Gifu Prefecture, we began to witness rolling hills, rice paddies, and rural hamlets.
We had our first rest stop at Hirugano-kogen.  Nestled at around 860 m above sea level on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway, this is not just an ordinary rest stop. It is a scenic pit-stop perfect for recharging both body and soul.
Perched high in the Takasu Mountains, the rest stop offers sweeping views of Mt Dainichigatake, and even distant peaks of Mt Hakusan.
The panoramic views were simply mesmerizing.
We continued our journey as we passed through many tunnels, suspension bridges, narrow mountain passes and rivers with breathtaking alpine views.  We even passed by a dam.
Though the journey was long, we never got bored of the sceneries along the way.
At this point, a video was played on the bus showcasing the destination where we were heading to.
Highlights of the journey in the following video.
