19 Oct 2012 - Day 1: Caversham Wildlife Park

This trip started on a bad note as Javier started throwing out on board during our flight to Perth.  It was quite stressful to see him so uncomfortable throughout the flight but there was nothing much I can do other than trying my best to console him.  He tried to force himself to sleep and refuse the meal served on board, which is understandable.  After touch down, he still did not look too well and worse still, there was a long queue at the airport custom.  We finally passed the custom after about 45 minutes and throughout this period, I was carrying him.  At that point in time, how I wish I had brought along a stroller.  Yes, this is the first time we had gone for a holiday trip with kids without strollers.

Anyway, once out of the custom, I went straight to the car rental counter to collect my car.  I rented a Holden Barina (below).
As Javier still seemed quite moody, we decided to go some place where it can trigger back his liveliness. And one obvious place nearby Perth City is Caversham Wildlife Park as both Jerlene and Javier have been looking forward to Kangeroo feeding.  From the airport, it was about 30 mins drive to the park.
Once we enter the park, Javier started asking for food, which was a good sign.  He then started joining Jerlene on some of the mini rides.
As we walked round the park, we saw all sorts of animals, of course they include koala, wombat, emu, wallaby and kangeroo etc.
Then there was a shed whereby we were able to touch and take photos with some creatures such as blue tongue skink, snake and wombat.  Javier was very daring as he went around touching the skink, snake and other creatures.  Jerlene on the other hand just hide behind Javier.  Haha.....guess that's the difference between a boy and a girl.
Finally, we came to their favorite section of the park, the kangeroo's enclosure.  And it's kangeroo feeding time.  We have a free flow of kangeroo food in the bin and both Jerlene and Javier went wild.  When Javier ran out of kangeroo food, he will approach the keeper for more, so funny.  We spent about an hour in this enclosure.
We left the park at about 2:30pm.  At that time, Javier again showed sign of discomfort.  When we reach our hotel (Pan Pacific), we were all so tired and took an afternoon nap.  In the evening, we felt Javier and he seemed to have slight fever.  So we decided to go to the city centre and look for a pharmacy to buy some fever medicine.  As we searched around for it, Javier said he cannot walk anymore and wanted me to carry him.  Not long after that, he started throwing out again.....on me this time.  As he did not eat much earlier, all he threw out was mainly liquid.  Initially we thought it was the motion sickness on flight that caused him to throw out on board.  But after so many hour later, he still continue to vomit, which made us feel very worried.  When we reached our hotel, just before we stepped into our room, he threw out again.  We had to call for housekeeping service to clean up the carpet later.  The moment Javier lie down on the bed, he tried to force himself to sleep.  Felt so heart pain to see him so uncomfortable, especially when he kept saying he wanted to go home.  In fact, I did tell Tracy that if he continue to vomit the next day, we should probably cut short our trip and fly home then.  Anyway, we decided to bring him to a nearby clinic the next morning.

Javier, be strong and get well soon!
