31 Aug 2019 - Annual Ballet Parents' Day

We were invited to Jerlene's ballet class today and watched them practice their moves, which are getting more and more challenging and demanding.  But glad that the girls are still enjoying it.
Here's the video of their practice.
At the end of the lesson, Jerlene received her ballet certificate for the examination that she did in April this year.

25 Aug 2019 - Jin Kayu (lousy?) Prata Place

While we were driving to our usual prata place at Jalan Kayu, Javier suddenly asked:"Are we going to Jin Kayu"?  We kept asking him what he meant by Jin Kayu because we are definitely going to Jalan Kayu.  Then he said:"But we are now at Jin Kayu, see the road sign there!"  As we looked towards where he pointed, we all burst into laughter and I almost veered off course.  See the photo below and you'll know what I mean.
From today onward, we are going to call it the Jin Kayu Prata Place.......haha........

24 Aug 2019 - Flowering Season

The weather has been very dry recently but our plants seem to be adapting quite well.  In fact, they started to bloom with colourful flowers.  Quiz time!  Can you name the plants based on their flowers in the photos below?

18 Aug 2019 - Table Tennis Session

We cannot remember when we last had our table tennis session but it's definitely a long time back.  Half way through the session, a Chinese boy came over and asked if he can join us.  Once he joined, both Jerlene and Javier gave way because the boy, from China, was well-trained.  :-)

17 Aug 2019 - Lunch at Tsui Wah (翠華) @ Clarke Quay

When we were in Hong Kong few years ago, Tsui Wah (翠華) was one of the Tea Restaurants (港式茶餐廳) where we visited the most.  Ever since then, we had been waiting for its "arrival" in Singapore.  Though it has opened its first ever outlet in Southeast Asia, right here in Singapore last year, today is our first visit to the restaurant at Clarke Quay.
Reading the menu is like reading a newspaper.  Everything in the menu looks delicious.
Following were what we ordered.
After lunch, we walked around Clarke Quay and visited Liang Court before driving home.  On the way home, Javier had requested to come back here for lunch next time.  I'm sure we will.

11 Aug 2019 - Met our ex-neighbour during lunch

It's Hari Raya Haji, which is a public holiday, today.  We had our lunch at Hawker Chan restaurant @ Tai Seng.  Half way through our lunch, our ex-neighbour texted us and coincidentally, they just had their lunch at the same restaurant a while ago.  In fact, they were sitting at the same table.  As we had not met up for quite a while, they decided to return to the restaurant to meet up with us.  After lunch, we went to the nearby Toastbox for some coffee and tea.
Jerlene and Javier had been asking me to arrange for a meet up with Shannon, our ex-nieghbour's daughter, for quite sometimes.  So it's fated that they got to meet up today even without me arranging.  They were so excited and didn't want to leave the place in the end.  It was a great catch-up for all of us.

9 Aug 2019 - Happy Birthday, Singapore!

Today we celebrated the 54th birthday of Singapore.  We did not go anywhere as we wanted to stay home and watch the parade.
Unlike the past few years, I did not capture the fighter jet's formation flyby this year.  Instead, I managed to captured the fighter jet's take off from the airbase.  :-)
We used to be able to watch the national day parade fireworks at the city from our roof terrace but with the new condo next door fully built up, our city view is now totally blocked.  Below was what we could see now......sigh......  Anyway, Happy Birthday, Singapore!

8 Aug 2019 - National Day Eve Fireworks at Hougang Heartland

Today is eve of National Day.  At about 8:50pm, I heard some "popping" sounds coming from outside of our house.  So I dashed up to my roof terrace to find out what's the source of the sound.  And what a pleasant surprise, it was fireworks somewhere nearby in Hougang!
When I looked back at my blog post exactly one year ago, I realized that actually the fireworks at Hougang happened last year as well.  Seems like this is going to be an annual event.  Below was what I captured this year.

4 Aug 2019 - Byblis transformed!

Our Byblis has recently "transformed" from very slim stem to a thick and flat one as seen in the following photo.  Based on discussion threads in some of the online gardening forum, many people are trying to "transform" their Byblis to this state but not successful.  We are not sure how it happens and can only attribute it to green fingers.  :-)

3 Aug 2019 - Javier is smarter than me?

Earlier, someone sent me this quiz which claims that even university students may find it challenging.  It took me several minutes before I figured it out.
Then I passed this quiz to Javier and within 30 seconds, he drew the following and showed it to me.  "Is Javier smarter than me now?", I pondered.......  :-P
