28 Jul 2019 - Jalan Kayu Day at Buangkok Square Park

It's Jalan Kayu Day today and there was a carnival at Buangkok Square Park near our place.  We got to know about this carnival as Jerlene, together with Rosyth Chinese Orchestra, will be performing on stage for this event.  The Guest of Honour is none other than our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
There were many food and games stalls setup all around the park.  We bought two booklets of coupons which includes carnival rides, games, activity booths and snacks.  Javier was having fun at the game stalls.
He also went to a Kite Designing activity booth and did some colouring on the kite, which he could bring home.  Since we had two activity booth coupons, he decided to get another one for Jerlene.  How thoughtful.
While Javier was busy colouring his kite, we went to a small exhibition area where many items from the olden days were on display.
Jerlene and Rosyth Chinese Orchestra arrived at the event at about 5pm.  They had some snacks and drinks before going on stage for the performance.
PM Lee arrived at the event around 6pm and had a warm welcome from the crowds.
Soon after, Rosyth School's Chinese Orchestra went on stage to perform a song (男儿当自强) which they had been practising for months.
Here's a video of the performance.
After the performance, all members of Rosyth School Chinese Orchestra headed back to school to return their instrument.  We, on the other hand, walked to the nearby Buangkok Square Mall to buy some dinner.  This is quite a new mall and we were there for the first time.
Below were some of our winnings from the game stalls which includes a picnic mat, a panda back massager, a dolphin plushie, 2 kites and dozens of lollipops.
After buying our dinner, we drove to Rosyth School to pick Jerlene up before going home.  It was a great day out for all of us!

27 Jul 2019 - Taekwondo 1st POOM Certificate

After years of hard work and perseverance, Javier finally received his Taekwondo Certificate awarded by Singapore Taekwondo Federation for achieving the grade of 1st POOM.  Students under the age of 15 years old will receive a “Poom Certificate” when they achieve 1st Degree Black Belt (黑带一段).  Students above the age of 15 years old will receive a “Dan Certificate” when they achieve 1st Degree Black Belt.  When Javier turns 15 years old, he can simply convert the Poom to the equal rank of “Dan Certificate”, which is his ultimate goal!
Well done, Javier!  Congratulation!

27 Jul 2019 - Javier's first vlog (Video Blog)

In order to be a successful Youtuber, Javier continues to try out different things.  Today, he created his first ever vlog (video blog), which is a form of blog for which the medium is video.  The content of vlog can be anything.  Javier decided to use alphabets to describe his morning.  As this is his first attempt, there are still lots of room for improvement in his video.  Below is his first Youtube vlog.  Enjoy!

25 Jul 2019 - Javier on his own today

Jerlene was having her Prelim Oral Exam this afternoon.  As such, Javier was on his own taking a bus from school to Hougang One for his Chinese tuition.  This was the first time Javier took a bus all by himself.  He took a photo and sent to me to inform me that he had safely reached the tuition centre.  :-)

21 Jul 2019 - Family Dinner @ Ichiban Sushi

As the title says......having our favourite Japanese meal at Ichiban Sushi, Compass One.

20 Jul 2019 - Meeting up with my JC classmates for the 1st time in 30 YEARS!

After almost 30 years since we graduated from our Junior College, tonight was the first time we met up with more than half of our class strength.  Great to see everyone still in very good shape.  We had so much laughter as we recalled all those fun moments throughout our 2 years college life.  After this round of gathering, I'm sure we will meet up more often going forward.  Hopefully we can "locate" those who were absent this time round and eventually grows to full strength.
I created a fun photo below showing how much we had matured after 30 years.  Not a lot of difference, right?  😉

14 Jul 2019 - More Youtube videos from JJJwong

Following are more videos from our very own Youtuber JJJwong.  All these videos were created within the past 1 week.  Do show your support to Javier by subscribing to his Youtube channel.  Enjoy his videos and click "Subscribe" during the outro.  😉

7 Jul 2019 - Javier is serious about becoming a Youtuber!

Javier is really serious about becoming a "professional" Youtuber.  His video now has his very own self-created "Intro".  Furthermore, he now appears in a corner of his video just like most other popular gaming Youtubers.  Almost every weekend, he will lock himself in his room doing his recording.  And during which, he will paste a paper on the room door with the words either "On Air" or "Recording in progress".  Sometimes when we have a Chinese helper in our house, he will write in Chinese, "不要进来,我在录音。谢谢!".
At the end of his video, there is even an "Outro".  When I told him there is no such word as "Outro", he insisted there is.  So I quickly do a search and.......he's right!
Stay tuned for more videos from JJJwong!

4 Jul 2019 - Several first times on their own today

After school today, Jerlene and Javier took a bus on their own for the very first time from their school to Hougang One where they attended Chinese tuition classes, also for the very first time.  That's not all.  After tuition, they walked home by themselves for the first time as well.  Throughout the afternoon, I'd been using the iphone app "Find iPhone" to track their location.
It was quite an achievement for both of them and well done!
