31 Mar 2015 - Javier's birthday through the years

I had done the same for Jerlene two months ago.  Below are photos of Javier through the years.

31 Mar 2015 - Javier turns SIX!

Jerlene and I celebrated Javier's birthday at his childcare centre this afternoon.  It was a mad rush for me as I got to fetch Jerlene from her school at 1:45pm and then brought her to a food court for lunch.  As she's still wearing her school uniform, I brought her home to change to her own dress.  After which, we went to buy some paper plates before going to Nex to collect Javier's cake.  And to make things worse, it started raining very heavily.  By the time we reached the childcare centre, all the children were already seated nicely waiting for us to deliver the birthday cake.
As usual, we sang the birthday songs (in various languages), followed by cake cutting.  When the kids saw the Angry Bird cake, everyone went wild and started telling me: "I want this bird", "I want that yellow one", "I want the egg" etc.  The teacher told me that quite a number of them in the class are so crazy about Angry Bird and they become really good friends because of this.  When the (Chinese) teacher asked them what is Angry Bird in Mandarin, a few kids immediately said "生气鸟"!  The teacher quickly corrected them:"不是生气鸟,是愤怒的小鸟"!
Glad that all the kids love the cake and most of them asked for more.  After clearing up the table, Javier started giving out gifts to all his friends.
Before leaving the school, all the kids gathered around to take a group photo.  This will be Javier's last birthday celebration in childcare as he'll be "promoted" to primary school next year.

28 Mar 2015 - Early Celebration for Javier's Birthday

We had an early celebration for Javier's 6 years old birthday today.
Javier chose the cake himself.  And as expected, it was an Angry Bird strawberry cake.
Happy Birthday Javier!

22 Mar 2015 - Spongebob Movie

It has been a long time since we last went to a cinema for a movie as a family.  As such, on this last day of their one week school holiday, I decided to bring Jerlene and Javier out for a movie and the show we picked was The SpongeBob Movie.  We watched it at GV Vivocity.  Pardon my lousy iPhone camera for such a low quality picture below.
:-P

17 Mar 2015 - Angry Bird Activity Park at Komtar JBCC

After checking out of Traders Hotel Puteri Harbour this morning, we went to Legoland again as requested by the kids.  We spent the morning there and at about noon, we drove to Komtar JBCC, where Angry Bird Activity Park is situated.  There are 3 sessions a day (10am-1pm, 2pm-5pm, 6pm-10pm).  On Sunday, Public Holiday or School Holiday, the admission ticket is only valid for one session.  For today, we were allowed multiple sessions.  As it was about 1pm, we decided to have our lunch before entering at 2pm.
Jerlene and Javier were very excited, especially when they were so crazy about Angry Bird recently.
This place is simply a huge indoor playground with Angry Bird theme.
There are 4 zones within the park and one of them is called the "Danger Zone".  And in this zone, there is an activity station called the Space Drop Air Bag, where we were supposed to jump down from a two storey platform onto a giant air bag below.  I saw the kids (both Jerlene and Javier) just jumped off the platform without thinking and I thought it was nothing.  But when I stood on the platform, I suddenly got a shock.  In fact, most adults had that fear but to the kids, it seems so easy.
Jerlene and Javier just can't stop jumping.
This is a real life Angry Bird Go racing game.
Around the park, there were quite a number of interactive games as well.
Right inside of the park, there is this area that looks more like an exercise station.  There were trampoline, tight rope and monkey swing.
We left the park after 2nd session ended for our dinner at nearby KFC.  Before that, Jerlene and Javier each got an Angry Bird plushie each from the Angry Bird merchandise shop.
After dinner, we went back to the park for the 3rd and last session on the day.  We did not stay throughout the session because that will be too late.  We left the park at about 8:30pm and we can see the kids were dragging their feet to show us how reluctant they were to leave the place.

We all had so much fun in the park but the journey across the causeway was terrible,  It took us more than 2 hours to clear the jam on the causeway.  By the time we reached home, it was after 11pm.

16 Mar 2015 - Legoland Waterpark

Good morning, Puteri Harbour!  From our room, we were able to see the sun rise across the harbour.
We had our breakfast (included in our room rate) at the hotel cafe.  As the outside area was full, the hotel staff opened up a private room for us.  The breakfast was pretty good and the kids were enjoying it.
Our plan today was to go to the Legoland Waterpark.  Though we have upgraded our annual standard pass to premium pass, which includes the waterpark, today was our first visit there.  I did not take any photo in the park for obvious reason,  Anyway, the park looks like this.
The sun was scorching today and even with sun block, I still got sun burn.  Fortunately the kids were ok as they were wearing those fully covered swim wear.  I probably should get one for myself for future visits.  Other than the weather, we all (yes both kids and adults) had lots of fun.  The wave pool was great, the lazy river was relaxing and the various slides were amazing.  Initially we thought of spending at most 3-4 hours in the park due to the hot weather.  Eventually we were in the park for about 6 hours.  We would probably stay there even longer if not for the thunderstorm that was approaching in the late afternoon.  We will be back!  :-)

15 Mar 2015 - Legoland and Bukit Indah for dinner

We had our lunch at OldTown restaurant in Medini Mall before spending the whole afternoon today at Legoland.  At one point, it was raining so heavily that we all have to hide under a shelter.  Other than that, it was a fun-filled day for the kids.
In the evening, we decided to drive to Bukit Indah Shopping Mall for dinner.  We walked one round along the food street and eventually the kids decided that they want A&W for dinner.
By about 9pm, we were back at our hotel room.

15 Mar 2015 - Traders Hotel Puteri Harbour

It's the beginning of a one week school holiday.  Originally I had planned for a short trip to Taiwan but in the end, we decided to take an even shorter trip to JB.  :-P

To the kids, they seemed happier when I told them of the change of plan.  Other than Legoland, I will be bringing them to other fun parks that they had never been to before.

We will be staying at Traders Hotel Puteri Harbour for the coming two nights.  We took the deluxe harbour view room and below is the view from our room.  I booked this hotel because it's very near to Legoland and more importantly, it's a lot cheaper than Legoland Hotel.
The room was clean and quiet with two twin beds, which was enough for four of us to sleep together comfortably.
There were shops, indoor family theme park and many eateries around this hotel.  After checking into our room, we left our luggage there and spent the rest of the day at Legoland.

14 Mar 2015 - Chingay Float @ Heartlands 2015

Last weekend, we had missed the Chingay parade near our place.  As such, today we were determined not to miss it again.  The starting point is at Serangoon Ave 3, right in front of Braddel Heights Community Centre.  We went there at about 6:15pm.  That stretch of road was closed and we were able to come very close to all the floats.
This is our first time seeing a "dragon" (dance) made up of sunflower.
The kids were ready for the parade to start.
Just before the float moved out, the street performers started walking around on stilts.  Here comes the Fu Lu Shou (福禄寿).
At about 6:45pm, all the floats were lighted up and slowly moved out on their planned route.

14 Mar 2015 - Primary Ballet Exam

Jerlene had her primary ballet exam today.  She had done well for her previous exams in the past two years.  I'm sure she can do well today too.  As usual, we first reached the holding area to get Jerlene tidy up her appearance.  This will be her last year wearing this pink leotard and skirt.  When she starts her grade one lesson, she will be wearing a blue leotard.
The girls were ready to enter the examination studio.  All the best, my pretty ballerina!  :-)
