31 Jan 2026 - Lower Peirce Nature Trail

Our walk at Lower Peirce Nature Trail last November was very fruitful and we decided to go on the same trail again this morning.
As we walked towards the main entrance, we realized that the boardwalk was closed for maintenance till 31 Mar 2026. However, the Casuarina and Jacaranda entrance remain open.
As such, we did a detour to enter the forest trail via the Jacaranda entrance.
Unlike the previous visit here where we saw the rare lesser mousedeer twice, this time round we saw none. However, we witnessed a confrontation between a squirrel and a snake. In fact, I did not realize that there was a snake on the tree until I reviewed my photos/videos when I got home. Watch the video below for the interesting moment of "Squirrel vs Snake".
Saw the following as we were about to drive off from the car park.

25 Jan 2026 - My Princess Turns 19!

My little princess is no longer little.  She's 19 now!  As usual, we went for her favourite Cookie-Monster ice cream at Lickers after dinner.  Happy Birthday, young lady!

18 Jan 2026 - Edusave Scholarship 2025

Another year of great achievement for Javier, who received his Edusave Scholarship Award from our MP today.  Hope he can continue this tradition as he enters into JC education this year.

17 Jan 2026 - Pasir Ris Park Mangrove Boardwalk

We normally do our weekend morning walk on Sunday.  However, since we woke up early today (Saturday), we thought to ourselves, why not..... After going through the list of parks that we have yet to explore, we decided on Pasir Ris Park Mangrove Boardwalk.
The boardwalk itself is a 1.2km to 1.5km loop that meanders through the dense mangrove forest.
It’s elevated, so we could peer directly into the muddy secrets of the swamp without getting our shoes ruined.
It's almost guaranteed to see Giant Mudskippers (which can actually climb trees!) and Water Monitor Lizards among the mangroves.
The forest acts as a natural buffer between the land and sea, breaking waves to prevent coastal erosion.
At the viewing jetty that overlooks Sungei Tampines, we saw many marine lives such as needlefishes and terrapins.
There is also a 3-story bird watching tower in the park. We climbed to the top for a panoramic view of the canopy.
This was one of the shortest walks (slightly more than an hour) that we had done so far but it's a nice and quiet one.

15 Jan 2026 - A Great Day in JB

We took a day off from work and went JB for some good food and entertainment. First, we had our brunch at a Hong Kong Dim Sum Restaurant called Ta Si Xi (大四喜). There are several outlets in JB and the one we went is near Austin Heights.
The Dim Sum here was really good.
After our meal, we went around the vicinity and did a bit of exploration.
The Nanyang Street mural is a striking outdoor gallery that captures the essence of a bygone era with vibrant storytelling. Walking along this mural is like walking through the pages of Nanyang's history, offering both education and nostalgia.
There are many interesting shops, cafes and restaurant in this area. It's going to take us many trips here to try out everything.
On Google map, we saw a place called Little Paris which is just round the corner. We decided to go take a look as the photos posted seems interesting.
However, when we reached, we were pretty disappointed as the building seemed deserted.
Next, we drove to one of our favourite malls in JB, ÆON Mall Tebrau City.
Our plan was to watch a movie, "Avatar: Fire and Ash". The ticket price is so much cheaper here than back home. After we finished watching this 3+ hours long show, we decided to watch another Chinese movie, "寻秦记". This was our first time having a movie marathon. :-)
As we still had sometime before the next show starts, we went to have a quick bite at Restoran Hua Mui.
Our return trip was very smooth at both customs. Overall, this trip was very relaxed and fruitful.

14 Jan 2026 - GCE "O" Level Results (Higher Chinese and German) and AMC Distinction

Javier is currently having a one-month internship with Changi General Hospital (CGH). As today was the release of GCE "O" Level results, he was released earlier to go back to his school to collect the results. Actually, he only took "O" level exams for Higher Chinese and German as he's in the Integrated Programme (IP). It was a great result with his Higher Chinese scoring an A2 while his German scored an A1.
He also received a Distinction Award for Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) that he participated last year.
Well done, Javier!
