24 Feb 2018 - CNY Celebration @ Regentville

As part of Regentville's Chinese New Year celebration, our management committee invited a Lion Dance Troupe to perform for the residents by the pool side this afternoon.

24 Feb 2018 - Angry Bird Olympics

Javier's latest Scratch programming project is called Angry Bird Olympics.  His programming skills has now "upgraded" to the next level.  I am his beta tester and when I suggested that there should be an option for me to adjust the music and sound volume, he immediately said that's easy.  True enough within 2 minutes, I got the sliders to adjust music and sound volume at the bottom right of the screen.
Click here if you are interested to try.  Do read the instructions before you start.  Otherwise you may not know what to do.

18 Feb 2018 - CNY Lion Dance + Birthday Celebration

It's the time of the year again when our family and relatives gathered at my sister's place for the Chinese New Year Lion Dance.  When the Lion Dance troupe came, one of my nephews immediately went to look for the God of Fortune (财神爷), who came with the troupe in the past few years.  However, he came back telling us:"财神爷 never come today, he's not doing well"!!!!  We all had a good laugh.....hahah......  It makes a lot of difference between not feeling well and not doing well, especially so for 财神爷.....lol......
As usual, below is the formation of the oranges and vegetables before the lion dance performance.
And here is what everyone is waiting for after the performance, the 4D number!
One thing special about this year's lion dance gathering is that today is also my mom's birthday.  We had a celebration after dinner.

17 Feb 2018 - Fun at Decathlon

Today, we were having another round of CNY visiting.  After our afternoon visit, we went to the nearby Viva Business Park and came to a huge Decathlon store.  This is the first time we visited this store and within the store, it looks like a mini sports center.  There were areas for people to try out various sports such as skate scooter, skateboard, basketball shootout, table tennis, badminton, mini soccer court and many more.  Jerlene and Javier had enjoyed themselves in the store.
Notice the backpack that both Jerlene and Javier carried on their back?  It only costs $3.90 each.  :-)

16 Feb 2018 - First day of CNY visiting

We first visited my parent's place in the morning.  祝大家新年快乐, 身体健康!
A great idea came into my mind when I saw the photo below which we took 22 years ago.
I suggested that we re-create the photo and result is below.  Cool?  :-)
In the evening, we gathered at a chalet together with my family and relatives.
Following that we went to Tracy's cousin place for another CNY gathering.
Time for our Kacheng's photo once again!

15 Feb 2018 - Chinese New Year Eve Reunion Dinner

It's Chinese New Year Eve today.  After our half day work, we rushed home to prepare for a steamboat reunion dinner with my parents.
We prepared two steamboat soups, one Laksa and one Abalone soup.
As usual, we did the Louhei (捞鱼生) before our steamboat dinner.  Huat ah!
After dinner, I had a mini birthday celebration.  Yes it is my birthday today!  My parents bought me a rainbow cake and Tracy, together with Jerlene and Javier's help, made me a cheesecake.  This is my first time having two cakes for my birthday.  This time really HUAT AH!!!!!  :-)

10 Feb 2018 - Early CNY Reunion Dinner

We had an early Chinese New Year reunion dinner with family this evening.  The food spread was great!
After dinner, it's time for Louhei (捞鱼生) to wish everyone good health, good results, good career etc etc etc.  Jerlene and Javier loves Louhei as one is in love with Abalone and the other is crazy for the little crackers.
We ended the gathering with a family photo-shoot!  Nice!

8 Feb 2018 - Javier joins InfoComm Club

When we picked up the kids from school this evening, Javier ran to me excitedly saying he has  officially joined InfoComm Club as his CCA.  Actually about 2-3 weeks ago, they had a CCA fair in school whereby booths from various CCAs were setup.  Javier was attracted to the InfoComm booth as he saw some of his seniors working on Scratch programming.  Jerlene was with him at that time and told us that he actually logged into his own Scratch account so that others can try his games.  He was so happy that no one managed to beat his "Pong Game".
The club should thank him because his game has attracted even more students to the booth.  Free advertisement for the club!  Haha......
