25 Jan 2021 - Jerlene's 14th Birthday

Jerlene turns 14 today.  I bought her a birthday cake and had a mini celebration at home after dinner.  Look how much she had grown, comparing to the photo behind her which was taken 10 years ago.  No matter how much she grows, she's still my baby, my little princess!

Happy Birthday, Jerlene!  Hope all your wishes will come true!  :-)

24 Jan 2021 - Early Birthday Lunch for Jerlene

Tomorrow is Jerlene's birthday.  As it is a normal school day, we decided to go for an early birthday lunch today at Tamago-En @ Nex.  

Tamago-EN prides itself for only using the freshest eggs imported direct from Okinawa.  Following are we had for our meal.

Other than lunch, the real reason to come to Tamago-EN is for its dessert, particularly its Souffle Pancakes.  It comes with many flavours and below are what we had.  Very delicious!

23 Jan 2021 - Tun Xiang (豚香南洋馆) @ Hougang One

Shi Li Fang Hot Pot had recently moved out from Hougang One Mall.  In replacement, Tun Xiang (豚香南洋馆) has occupied the space selling Iberico Black Pork Ricebowl & Noodles With Nanyang Milk Tea.  They prides themselves in bringing the taste of the premium meat to the masses at a reasonable price point.  We tried its Char Siew Noodle, Roast Pork Rice and Yellowtail Fishball Soup today.  It tastes pretty good.

11 Jan 2021 - "Damages" caused by non-stop wet weather

It has been raining non-stop in the past 2 weeks.  On one hand it was good because the weather was very cooling.  However, when I went up to my roof terrace this afternoon, I saw the "damages" caused by the wet weather.  About 6 months ago, I had installed a fire-rated board underneath the trellis in order to comply to the Fire Safety Act.  Due to the non-stop rain, the outer paint started peeling off and I can see rust forming around.

Also, water seemed to have seeped into the paint on certain part of the wall forming water bubbles.

Sigh......guess I have to spend some effort in the coming months to "fix" up all these "damages".

10 Jan 2021 - Breakfast at Fong Sheng Hao (豐盛號)

We had our breakfast at Fong Sheng Hao (豐盛號) @ PLQ Mall.  It is popular for its Charcoal Grilled Signature Toasts.  Fortunately we were slightly early and soon after we ordered, the queue behind us started to build up.  The toast is very filling and tastes real good.  Highly recommended.  :-)

9 Jan 2021 - Edusave Scholarship 2020

We were at Ci Yuan CC around noon time today to attend the Edusave Merit Bursary Presentation.  This is the first time both Jerlene and Javier are receiving the awards together.  The arrangement this year is slightly different from past years as the organizer will need to ensure all safe measures are properly in place.  Firstly, each award recipient can only have one family member to accompany him or her to the presentation.  So for us, since both Jerlene and Javier are recipients,  we were allowed to attend the presentation all together.  Secondly, only a small group of families are allowed to enter the theatre at any one time.  Also, the speech by our MP, Mr Darryl David, was shortened.  And if you see the photo below, each family will have to keep a safe distance away from Mr Darryl David during photo taking.  Masks must be put on at all time.  Regardless, I appreciate the fact that despite the difficult situation now, Mr Darryl David and his grassroot members still put in effort to organize this award presentation to recognize the students' achievement.  Thanks!

2 Jan 2021 - WW84

We went for our first movie of the year tonight.  Though there isn't much actions, "Wonder Woman 1984" is still quite a nice show.  Actually it's good to watch movies during the current situation because there will not be anybody sitting beside, at the back or in front of you.  Only thing is you will need to wear a mask throughout the show, except while drinking or taking a quick bite.
