31 Jan 2022 - Reunion Dinner

Today is CNY eve and we had our reunion dinner, which is a yearly event, at our place.  As per every reunion dinner, LouHei is always a must!  Huat Ah!  :-)

29 Jan 2022 - Lunch at Soek Seng Bicycle Cafe

We decided to find a new dining place for our lunch today and Soek Seng Bicycle Cafe came to our mind.  We have read about this place on social media quite a lot but have not tried it till today.  It is located right next to the Seletar Airport runway.  We spent a while looking for it as we missed a small road leading to the cafe.

It was not crowded at the time when we were there.  From the cafe, we were able to look out of the cafe for a nice view of the runway.

Following were some dishes that we ordered.

Since it's called a Bicycle Cafe, it's not a surprise to see bicycles and accessories all around the cafe.

As we are still in a pandemic when international borders are mostly closed, we did not see any plane taking off or touching down on the runway.

25 Jan 2022 - Jerlene's 15th Birthday

My little princess is turning 15 today!  So that means I've been blogging for 15 years!  What an achievement!  :-)

After picking up Javier from MOELC, we drove to Junction 8 for our dinner.  We had our meal at Watami Japanese Restaurant.

After dinner, we bought an ice-cream cake from Swensen's and went home for a mini celebration.  Happy Birthday, Jerlene!

18 Jan 2022 - First German Lesson

Javier did not go to school today because he was having Home Based Learning (HBL).  In the afternoon, I brought him to MOE Learning Centre to attend his first German class.  Initially, we thought of taking public bus to MOELC but the waiting time of the next arriving bus was "terrible".  He will be late for sure if we were to wait for the bus.  As such, we had to "grab" a car in order not to be late for the class.  When we reached the learning centre, I was quite surprised to see so many students taking 3rd language.  The lesson starts at 3:30pm and ends at 6:30pm. 

15 Jan 2022 - Community Education Award

In recognition of Javier's academic achievement and good conduct last year, he received the Edusave Scholarship at the award presentation ceremony this morning at Ci Yuan Community Club.  Due to the current Safe Management Measures, only one family member can attend the ceremony with the student.

Hope this yearly award will continue to motivate Javier to achieve even more.  Congrats, Javier!

14 Jan 2022 - Ice Cream Waffle Time

Tonight, we decided to for Ice Cream Waffle at Lickers (Lorong Ah Soo) but when we reached, we saw a long queue outside of the cafe.  We all agreed that we will not queue for an hour just to have the ice cream waffle.  As such, we changed our venue to Naked Ice Cream at Kovan.  We were fortunate to have one available table just nice for the 4 of us.

Time to enjoy the Ice Cream Waffles!  :-)

13 Jan 2022 - TJC Academic Excellence Award

I've received a letter from TJC informing me that Javier has been awarded the Temasek Junior College Academic Excellence Award which is given to IP1 students who achieved a PSLE score of AL6 or lower and are pursuing studies in TJC.  This is a cash award of $1000.  Once again, well done Javier!

10 Jan 2022 - IP1 Meet-the-Parents Session

Today Javier managed to take a public bus home all by himself.  The journey is about an hour.  At 5pm, there was a IP1 Meet-the-Parents zoom session conducted by TJC.  The session is very informative and parents have a better idea of what our children will be going through in the coming 6 years.

6-7 Jan 2022 - TJC IP1 Induction Program

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for Javier as he embarks on a brand new journey at TJC.  This is the first time he's on his own in a new environment.  Previously, he always has Jerlene with him.  So it's time for him to be more independent.

The Student Council has put together an exciting 2-day induction programme today and tomorrow to welcome all IP1 student to the TJC family.

There were briefings by the principal and teachers of TJC at the lecture theatre.

The IP1 students were organized into different Orientation Groups and have many activities where they have opportunities to interact with one another.  On 7 Jan (Fri), there was even live streaming of the O-Nite so that parents can also witness the finale of the induction programme.

1 Jan 2022 - Happy New Year!

Managed to catch the fireworks at the stroke of midnight to welcome 2022.  It had been raining the whole of yesterday and it's still raining as I was typing this.  Hopefully the rain will wash away all the bad "stuffs" in the past one year and 2022 will be a fantastic one!
