We visited Bird Paradise today, hoping that there will be lesser crowd as most people will be busy doing visiting on Day 1 of Chinese New Year. From the car park, we first arrived at a man-made waterfall. Bird Paradise is basically an upgraded version of our previous Jurong Bird Park.
Before entering into the park, we had our breakfast at A&W.
We bought our admission tickets online and with our WildPass, which we applied for free, we got additional discount for our tickets.
The first area which we visited was the Penguin Cove, which features one of the world’s largest sub-Antarctic, cold salt-water habitats for penguins. Besides the king and gentoo penguins, the cove is also home to the northern rockhopper penguins, known for their ability to hop, and feisty behaviour.
Next, we went for the first Wings of the World Presentation, which showcased many popular birds and their natural talents, breathtaking plumage and sharp-as-claws IQ. The most unforgettable moment was none other than the amazing Amigo, a yellow-naped Amazon Parrot, with its incredible mimicking ability. It is the only bird in the world that can sing in three languages. Watch the video below for some of the key highlights of this bird show.
After the presentation, we explored the other zones in the park where we saw flamingoes, lories, scarlet Ibis, spoonbills and many more. It's great that these birds were all roaming freely in a huge aviary instead of confining them in small cages.
In the afternoon, we went for the second presentation, Predators on Wings, which showcased birds of prey, the majestic creatures at the top of their food chain. Once again, you can watch the key highlights in the video below.
We spent the rest of the day trying to cover every zone in the park. The weather was getting really hot in the afternoon, and we were all physically tired from all the walking. We decided to leave the park at about 4pm and we had an early dinner at Springleaf Prata shop.
