We sent Jerlene to her classmate's place in Tengah district early this morning as they need to finish up a project. Tengah is a new residential estate where many areas are still under construction. Tengah will be the first HDB town that is planned with smart technologies town-wide from the beginning. The designs of the housing districts will focus on green, sustainable features and community-centric spaces.
As mentioned, we could see construction everywhere, including the MRT station. Residents who had moved into their new homes here must have felt the inconvenience now because the infrastructure around the district is simply not ready.
We drove to a nearby Plantation Plaza to see what's there. It is supposed to be a standalone new-generation Neighbourhood Centre that houses commercial amenities including a supermarket, food court, F&B eateries, retail and service shops, as well as enrichment centres. However, the only stores that were opened were the food court and Giant supermarket. Most shop spaces were empty except a few that were under renovation.
As there isn't much to explore, we left soon after.
