24 May 2025 - TJC's 47th College Day

TJC's 47th College Day Award Ceremony took place this morning.  We were invited to witness the ceremony as Javier is one of the award recipients.
Proud to share that Javier received the Top awards in not just one, two, or three, but four subjects: Advanced Mathematics, Biology, Intermediate Mathematics, and Singapore Studies & Geography.  Congratulations!
Other than subject awards, he is also a recipient of the ACE award, that honour students who have excelled academically and demonstrated exemplary leadership.  Well done!

17 May 2025 - Singapore National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI) 2025 Prize Giving Ceremony

The Singapore National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI) is modelled after the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), the ultimate international competition in computing (Informatics is the European term for computer science). NOI emphasizes creativity in problem solving on the one hand, and programming skill and expertise on the other.
This morning, Javier attended NOI 2025 Prize Giving Ceremony, held at NUS School of Computing, as one of the Gold Medalists in the competition.  This was a huge improvement from last year's competition when he received a Bronze medal.  Congratulations!
Since NOI 2020, NUS School of Computing has been granting automatic conditional admission offer to Gold Medalists of NOI from the Junior College category, when they apply for undergraduate studies at NUS School of Computing.  As such, Javier will strive to match or surpass the feat next year when he's in JC1.
What a great achievement, Javier!

10 May 2025 - Singapore Mathematics Project Festival (SMPF) Congress 2025

The Singapore Mathematics Project Festival (SMPF) was inaugurated by the Singapore Mathematical Society in 2001 in recognition of the fact that creative and innovative work in mathematics may best be reflected in project work wherein ideas may be thoroughly explored and carried through from start to finish.
Javier and his teammates participated in this year's competition and managed to enter into the final round whereby they were invited to give an oral presentation at the Festival Congress held at NUS today.
We, as parents, were also invited to attend the Congress to support our child and celebrate their achievements.
I must say I'm quite impressed by the way Javier delivered his speech, though I did not understand most of the mathematical theories that he's trying to explain. :-)
Well done to all participating students!

6 May 2025 - CCC - CDC Education Merit Award 2024

We collected the below certificate for Javier from Ci Yuan Community Club office today.  There was actually an award ceremony one week ago.  However, we were in Nagoya on that day and Javier did not want to attend on his own.  In fact, he never like to attend such ceremony, he just wants the awards and prizes.  :-)

1 May 2025 - NGO Day 6: Flight Home from Nagoya

Our flight took off at about 10:30am.  The cabin crew started serving meals one hour into the flight.
The satay onboard never fails.
I ordered the Japanese meal during the flight.  Nice food presentation.

1 May 2025 - NGO Day 6: Hotel Check-Out to Airport Check-In

We had to wake up early today as we would be catching a morning flight back home.
We checked out of the hotel at about 7am.
We then walked to Nagoya Station and took the train to Chubu Centrair Internatioanl Airport.
We checked in our luggage at Terminal 1 and got ready for our flight home.
This marks the end of our 5 Days Visit to Nagoya.
