Today is the day that I've been looking forward to since few months back. Jerlene, Tracy and myself will be flying off to Sydney for the coming week. My parent-in-law sent us to the airport and we went to checkin straightaway. This is also Jerlene's first visit to the airport but she's sleeping most of the time. We will be taking SQ231 to Sydney and the flight was delayed from 0030hrs to 0110hrs.
As we have an infant, we have priority to board the plane first. And today marks Jerlene's very first flight in her life. Jerlene was awake when we boarded the plane but very soon, she fell asleep during take off. This is good so that she will not feel the pressure on her ear while the plane is ascending. As this is a night flight, Jerlene slept through most of the flight.
Sitting beside us was two indian ladies with a SUPER cranky baby boy. The boy is definitely much older than Jerlene and he kept crying non-stop almost the entire flight. I could feel that many passengers around us were very fed-up as they could not sleep well with a crying boy around. Luckily Jerlene is not affected by the boy's crying. After the plane landed at Sydney airport, an ang moh lady came over and commented that Jerlene is a very good girl (unlike that indian boy). And you know what, after we left the plane and went to the baggage belt, that indian boy was still crying non-stop. Sigh.....I'm so proud of Jerlene....hehe.....
At the custom check, we did not have too much of an issue except for the wet wipes that were detected by the X-ray machine. It seems like when the custom officer sees a baby, they will know what to expect in our baby bag. Therefore for those who wanted to travel, you dun have to worry too much. It was not as scary as some people said. Btw, I brought two sealed tins of milk powder and some baby food.
We took an airport shuttle to the city centre at $10 each. After checking in to our hotel room, all three of us took a nap in the room. At about 5pm, we went around the area nearby our hotel. We walked over to Queen Victoria Building as well as Pitts Street Mall. We had a dinner appointment with Pauline and friends at a French restaurant, La Brasserie, along Crown Street. As we reached there too early, we decided to walk to King Cross area which is quite nearby.
At about 7pm, we returned to the restaurant. In the restaurant, Jerlene attracted the attention of many people. Jerlene seems to enjoy herself very much as she kept smiling to everyone. She seems to have cured of her stranger anxiety. The ang mohs around were all trying to play with Jerlene across the tables. One red haired lady came over to me and commented that Jerlene is gorgeous. Others were calling Jerlene "Cutie", "Sweetie" and "Pretty".
The food in this restaurant was not bad. And yes, to the ladies, the waiters there are all very good looking French. There is no waitress around. Our dinner ended at about 9pm and we walked back to our hotel.
