Our Roselle Plant has started flowering. In Chinese, Roselle is known as Luo Shen Hua (洛神花).
The red calyces of the plant are increasingly exported to the United States and Europe, particularly Germany, where they are used as food colourings. Roselle drinks is one of our favourite. It is prepared by boiling dried sepals and calyces of the sorrel/flower of the plant in water for 8 to 10 minutes (or until the water turns red), then adding sugar. It is often served chilled.
Our Jasmine plant is also blooming with flowers.
And it looks like it's almost time to harvest Javier's favourite cherry tomatoes.
