13 Oct 2019 - Hanoi Day 2: Luon Cave on Bamboo Boat

Our third and final stop of our Ha Long Bay day tour is Luon Cave.  Because of the limited height, the only way to visit Luon Cave is by a small bamboo boat or a kayak.
After all the climbing and walking earlier, we were too tired to do any kayaking ourselves.  As such, we opted for the more relax bamboo boat ride.
Luon Cave is one of the most appealing nature sites in Halong Bay. It is famous for its mystery, and once inside, we will be enchanted by its ragged cliffs, elderly ancient trees, and gorgeous orchids.
Entering Luon Cave slowly on a bamboo boat.....
Once we passed through under the arch to Luon Cave, we were met with sheer limestone cliffs plunging into the cool, green lake.  The cave is essentially a group of islands that have joined to form a brackish lake approximately 1 km in circumference.
We were lucky to be able to catch some great photos with mischievous monkeys jigging up and down around the cliffs.
Sitting on a bamboo boat rowed by a local, we could see a variety of plants such as ferns, cycads, Benjamin’s fig trees, and many beautiful orchids.
We spent about 30 minutes in the open air cave enjoying a relax and natural experience.
