After taking a quick rest in our hotel room, we decided to explore Wangfujing (王府井) area and get a good meal for our lunch. Beijing is full of culinary icons, but few are as legendary as Peking duck, and there’s no better place to savor it than Quanjude (全聚德). As such, we headed to their Wangfujing branch, which is just steps away from the bustling pedestrian street.
The interior of the restaurant is elegant, slightly old-world charm, with polished wood paneling, calligraphy scrolls, and large round tables perfect for sharing.
We ordered their Set Lunch for two persons, as recommended by the waiter. When all the food arrived at our table, we were glad that we did not order more. The portion was more than enough for the three of us.The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff seemed genuinely proud of their heritage. It was a great meal and the best way to start our Beijing adventure.
After lunch, we stepped straight out into Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. It was raining and no sign of stopping. According to weather forecast, it's going to rain till late at night. That did not stop us from exploring Wangfujing with umbrellas.
