7 Feb 2026 - Lorong Halus Wetland and Punggol Promenade Riverside Walk

Another Sunday morning, another walk.  Today we headed to Lorong Halus Wetland and followed by Punggol Promenade Riverside Walk. The moment we alighted our car, we were greeted by the following.
This lush, peaceful wetland was once Singapore’s largest landfill. Today, it serves as a massive bio-remediation system.
It uses specialized plants to treat "leachate" (contaminated liquid) from the former landfill before it reaches the Serangoon Reservoir.
Unlike the manicured lawns of central parks, Lorong Halus has a "rustic" charm with tall cat-tails and gravel paths.
Connecting the rustic wetlands to the modern promenade is the Lorong Halus Bridge. With its striking red steel arches and wooden planks, this bridge is a magnet for photographers.
Standing in the middle, we had the wild marshes on one side and the polished HDB skylines of Punggol on the other. Once we crossed the bridge, the terrain changed. The gravel gave way to smooth pavement and the Riverside Walk section of the Punggol Promenade.
As we walked by the riverside, chickens and waterhen were a common sight.
As we walked further south along the Riverside Walk, we hit the Punggol East Container Park. This is a cluster of hip and container-style bistros offering food and beverages. At this point, we walked the same path back to Lorong Halus Wetland as we completed another nice weekend morning walk.
