As we have done with most of the sightseeing in the past three days, we had planned to go on a shopping trip today. Before our Melbourne trip, we did some research back home and saw that there is a huge shopping mall at a suburb called Chadstone. We also found out that there is a free shuttle bus to Chadstone shopping mall from Fed Square, which we had already made a booking. The bus departed at 11am and the journey is about 30mins.
Chadstone Shopping Centre opened in 1960 and was the first freestanding regional shopping centre in Melbourne. It is now the biggest shopping centre in the Southern Hemisphere, boasting over 530 fabulous stores including a dedicated luxury precinct - home to 12 World Class Luxury Brands. As a tourist, we get to enjoy discounts of up to 30% off with our Visitors Passport.
The place is really huge and has all the popular brands. However, with the current exchange rate between SGD and AUD, the price of the items was not very attractive. As such, we did not really enjoy the shopping here. As for Jerlene and Javier, they did have some fun times in the mall.
Initially we thought that since the shopping mall is so huge, we may not want to follow the shuttle back to city so early. However, since we did not enjoy the shopping here, we decided to catch the 4:30pm shuttle back to city.
