13 Oct 2025 - KUL Day 4: Having a Relaxing Time on the last day in KL
As our flight was in the evening, we still had half a day to spend in KL before going to the airport. After checking out of the hotel, we left our luggage at the hotel reception and decided to explore around the vicinity. We finally had a chance to take a clearer look of the LRT track extending into Bangsar Trade Centre (formerly Plaza Pantai), where our hotel resides (at Tower D).
Across the road is the landmark Menara TM (Telekom Malaysia Tower), a prominent 55-storey building about 270 m away from the hotel. Standing at 310-meter-tall, it is shaped to represent a sprouting "bamboo shoot" and is regarded as the first twisted skyscraper in the world. The complex also includes a 2,500-capacity theatre, a large prayer hall (surau) and a sports facility. A unique feature of the tower is its 22 open sky gardens alternating every three floors.
We then took the LRT to Mid Valley Megamall which is just one LRT station away.
It's about lunch time and we had our meals at Secret Recipes.
After lunch, Jerlene and Javier had ice cream/frozen yoghurt at Yolé.
Mid Valley Megamall is really a massive mall and after spending few hours walking around the mall, I think we had covered less than 50% of it.
At about 3pm, we returned to our hotel to collect our luggage. We then took a Grab ride to the airport. The first Grab driver saw that we had 2 luggage and refused to pick us up. He insisted we cancel the Grab request and fortunately we were able to get a refund for the cancellation through the customer service case. The second Grab driver picked us up without question asked.
Before boarding, we had a light meal at Burger King. It was very rush because we spent more than 30 minutes waiting to collect our orders.
Similar to the previous flight from SIN to KUL, we were served with a light meal and once again, it was very rush because the flight started descending the moment the meal was served.
This marked the end of our short trip to Kuala Lumpur.
12 Oct 2025 - KUL Day 3: Masjid Jamek (Oldest Mosques in Kuala Lumpur)
From Hang Tuah LRT station (LaLaport), we got to make a transfer at Masjid Jamek LRT station to return to our hotel at Kerinchi LRT station. During the transfer, we had a great view of Masjid Jamek, one of the city’s most beautiful and historically significant landmarks.
Masjid Jamek is located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak Rivers, the very spot where Kuala Lumpur began as a small tin-mining settlement in the 19th century. The mosque’s location is symbolic as this is where the city was literally born. Designed by British architect Arthur Benison Hubback, who also designed other colonial-era landmarks like the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Masjid Jamek was officially opened in 1909, making it one of the oldest mosques in Malaysia. Despite being in the heart of downtown Kuala Lumpur, near the busy Masjid Jamek LRT station, the mosque feels tranquil and contemplative.12 Oct 2025 - KUL 3: Berjaya Times Square and Back to LaLaport
When we were about to leave Sungei Wang, it started raining heavily. As such, we waited for sometimes for the rain to lighten before braving through the rain with our mini umbrellas towards Berjaya Times Square. Towering over Jalan Imbi in the Bukit Bintang district, this massive complex isn’t just a shopping mall. It’s a city within a city. With over 1,000 retail outlets, an indoor amusement park, a hotel, and even serviced residences, Berjaya Times Square has earned its reputation as one of Malaysia’s most iconic lifestyle destinations. Opened in 2003, Berjaya Times Square spans 7.5 million square feet, making it one of the largest buildings in the world.
The highlight for many visitors is undoubtedly the Berjaya Times Square Theme Park, the largest indoor amusement park in Malaysia.
Spread over two floors, it’s a full-fledged entertainment wonderland featuring thrilling rides, arcade games, and family attractions. For us, we prefer more immersive games such as Escape Room. The Escape Game KL is located on Level 7, East Wing (Lot 07-96, 7th Floor) of the mall. Each game allowed us to have about 45 minutes of standard escape-room experiences. We attempted a game called "Shangri-La : Dream or Reality?" but we made use of all available hints and managed to escape just in time. After the game, we felt that it wasn't enough and we went for a second game called "Amazon Forest – raiders of the lost fortune". Though this was rated with a higher difficulty, we managed to escape with 13 minutes left and used only one hint. That was satisfying!
We had our dinner at one of the Japanese restaurants in the mall.
As we will be flying home the next day, we decided to return to LaLaport Animate Store to get the merchandises that Jerlene shortlisted during our Day 1 visit of the store. LaLaport is just a short stroll from Berjaya Times Square and along the way, we had a nice view of Merdeka 118 and KL Tower lighted up at night.
Tucked inside the hip and modern Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport, BookXcess stands out as a must-visit bookstore destination in Kuala Lumpur. The store interior is designed for experience with tall, impressive bookshelves, art installations, cosy reading nooks, and café space.
After we bought the Animate merchandise, we took the LRT back to our hotel. We realized there is actually a bridge connection from LaLaport to the LRT station instead of walking by the roadside, which we did on Day 1.
