12 Oct 2025 - KUL Day 3: Masjid Jamek (Oldest Mosques in Kuala Lumpur)

From Hang Tuah LRT station (LaLaport), we got to make a transfer at Masjid Jamek LRT station to return to our hotel at Kerinchi LRT station. During the transfer, we had a great view of Masjid Jamek, one of the city’s most beautiful and historically significant landmarks.
Masjid Jamek is located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak Rivers, the very spot where Kuala Lumpur began as a small tin-mining settlement in the 19th century. The mosque’s location is symbolic as this is where the city was literally born. Designed by British architect Arthur Benison Hubback, who also designed other colonial-era landmarks like the old Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Masjid Jamek was officially opened in 1909, making it one of the oldest mosques in Malaysia. Despite being in the heart of downtown Kuala Lumpur, near the busy Masjid Jamek LRT station, the mosque feels tranquil and contemplative.
