27 Nov 2018 - Cruise Day 7: Picton, a picturesque port town

We woke up pretty early today and managed to witness the tugboats pushing our cruise ship to the port.
Due to port regulations, no one is permitted to walk in the port area.  As such, we would need to take a Complimentary Shuttle Bus from the ship to downtown.  Once again, Jerlene and Javier preferred to stay on the ship while we visited Picton town.
The shuttle trip takes approximately 10 minutes each way and we dropped off at the museum in the town center.  This town is named after Sir Thomas Picton, the Welsh military associate of the Duke of Wellington, who was killed at the Battle of Waterloo.
The picturesque seaside town of Picton is the South Island base for the ferry service that links the main islands of New Zealand and the heart of the Marlborough Sounds.
Picton is a very small town and we could actually cover most of the area within an hour.
The supermarket actually expected visitors coming from our cruise ship today.
Other than the mall, we passed by the Police Station, Fire Station, Library and Theatre.
We then took a stroll to a nice park and playground by the bay.
Built around a very sheltered harbour, the town has an attractive seafront dotted with cafés, restaurants, various types of galleries. There’s also a floating maritime museum and an aquarium.
The view looking out to the bay was very picturesque.
This is the main photo spot where a "photo frame" was specially setup for visitors to take some nice pictures.
Picton town is really small and we managed to return to our ship by lunch time.  We met Jerlene and Javier having lunch with the staff from Adventure Ocean at Windjammer.
