Jerlene and Javier went for their first dose of Covid-19 vaccination today. Jerlene seems very relaxed while Javier was a bit stressed out since the day we registered for him. He's not worried of the side effect, he's simply afraid of the needle. We went to the vaccination centre at Raffles City Convention Centre as all other venues were fully booked for the current June school holiday. I accompanied them through the registration counter till vaccination area. Once they moved over to the observation area, I was told to proceed to the parent waiting area outside. Javier said that the injection was not as bad as he had expected. So far, both Jerlene and Javier feel ok and the only side effect is the sore arm, which most people experienced. Their next vaccination will be around 6 weeks later.

21 Jun 2021 - Relaxation of Covid19 restriction
As the number of Covid-19 cases are coming down, some of the safe measurement will be relaxed slightly starting today. For instance, dining in and hanging out in groups of 5 are now allowed. Let's hope the number of cases will continue to reduce so that further relaxation is possible as we move towards normalcy.

9 Jun 2021 - Completed our 2nd dose of Covid19 vaccination
Tracy and I took our 2nd dose of Covid19 vaccine today. Just like when we took our first dose, the entire process was very smooth and quick. This time round, we were given a box of face masks after the vaccination. Now that we had taken both the doses, we will be officially certified in the MOH system as fully vaccinated in 14 days' time.
MOH had just announced that children between 12 to 15 years old can start to register for their vaccination, preferably during the current June school holiday. We do receive SMS notification to register for Jerlene and Javier. At this point in time, we have not made up our mind whether to let them go for it. Guess we will give ourselves a while more to decide.......Monday, May 31, 2021
31 May 2021 - DSA Application for Javier
Direct School Admission for secondary schools (DSA-Sec) is a scheme that allows students to apply to some schools before taking the PSLE. Primary 6 students can apply for DSA-Sec based on a wide-range of talents which include academic subjects such as Maths and Science, Sports, Performing Arts, Leadership etc. In fact, some schools, such as NUS High, only accept students through DSA. Javier decided to apply to certain schools that match his criteria through this DSA exercise. Sometimes in July, for students who are shortlisted, they will have to go for some written tests, trials or auditions. After which, the schools will then offer a place for successful applicants. I wish Javier all the best for his application. :-)
19 May 2021 - COVID-19 Vaccination (1st dose)
Tracy and I went for our 1st dose of Covid19 vaccination today. We did not vaccinate earlier because at that time, we were advised to hold on due to our drug allergies. Now that with more data showing that the risk is low, we went for it. The entire process was very quick and smooth. We did not have to wait and we were able to go straight in for the vaccination. After 30 minutes of observation, we received a vaccination slip to certify that we had taken our first dose. As we were on our way out. we were given a pack of reusable masks and a bottle of hand sanitizer. Great job to the team who organize this vaccination exercise!
1 May 2021 - Labour Day Lunch at Nic & Tom @ Serangoon Garden
First of all, Happy Labour Day to everyone! We had our lunch at Nic & Tom today and we all enjoyed the food very much. Will definitely return for more...... :-)
29 Apr 2021 - Golfing at Marina Bay Golf Course (MBGC)
Had a golfing session with my gang in the evening at Marina Bay Golf Course. It was raining over the past few days but we were blessed with fantastic weather today for our game. Nice view of the golf course before tee off. :-)
27 Apr 2021 - SIA Mahjong Set Arrived!
I've ordered a Singapore Airlines Mahjong Set earlier this year and it finally arrived today!
This limited edition set was sold on KrisShop and it's selling like hot cakes. The design of the tiles clearly drew inspiration from Singapore Airlines' signature batik motif. Several aircraft components such as aircraft windows, aircraft engines and aircraft seat map are being used creatively for the tiles. The entire set is so nice that I'm now a bit reluctant to actually play with it. :-P

4 Apr 2021 - VR Experience at Headrock VR @ RWS
Due to the covid-19 situation that had impacted many people and businesses, our government has set aside a budget for all citizens to spend at various attractions and hotels in the country. It's called the "Singapore Rediscover Vouchers" (SRV) and we were able to redeem up to $100 per adult. So for us, we had redeemed it for game vouchers to Headrock VR at Resort World Sentosa. This is Singapore’s first-ever VR theme park which consists of three thematic zones. After we collected our game vouchers (5 games per person), we were each given a mask to wear for hygiene purpose. Jerlene and Javier refused to wear it to take photo....sigh......no more cute cute from them liao......
The first station where they went to is none other than Beat Saber! Javier had played it once in Korea and since then he had been asking to try it again. So we granted his wish today, after almost 2 years. :-P
We also tried out other games such as Zombie Busters.......
......Jungle Rafting......and more.
I gave all the remaining game vouchers to Jerlene and Javier and they used it all at Beat Saber AGAIN! Javier is quite good at it and he had been trying out all the insane difficulty.
We spent slightly less than 2 hours at the theme park but it's longer than we had initially anticipated.
The entire Resort World Sentosa was pretty quiet nowadays. I really hope that the whole world can get over this pandemic soon.

2 Apr 2021 - Javier's 12th Birthday Mini Celebration
We celebrated Javier's 12th birthday (actual day was 2 days ago) with an ice cream cake that we bought earlier from Swensen. He has grown quite a bit over the past few months and is now slightly taller than mommy. Such a big boy now but I always still treat him like a small kid. :-P
Happy Birthday, Javier! May all your wishes come true!Tuesday, April 20, 2021
2 Apr 2021 - Belated Birthday Lunch
As promised, we brought Javier out for lunch today to celebrate his belated 12th birthday. When I asked Javier if he had anywhere in mind for lunch, he said "Swensen" without hesitation. Certain thing just never change. Anyway, as long as he's happy, we are ok. Jerlene did not join us as she went out with her ex-classmates and teacher for a movie.
After the meal, we bought an Ice Cream cake home for a mini celebration later this evening. :-)Monday, March 29, 2021
31 Mar 2021 - Javier turns 12 today
Today is Javier's birthday but since it's a school day and he had tuition the whole afternoon, we decided to bring him out for a meal and have some fun in the coming long weekend. Stay tune for the post and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Javier!
30 Mar 2021 - Roszania Imagine Cup Circuit 2 (Silver Award)
In Nov 2020, Javier was awarded Gold (Honor) Award for Challenge Circuit 1 of Roszania Imagine Cup and I had a post regarding it here. He then participated in Challenge Circuit 2 later and was awarded Silver Award. For this project, he had programmed micro:bit with the objectives of helping people with hearing impairment. Once done, he's supposed to create a video to demonstrate his "product". His idea was good and his product works but I think his video can be improved further. Anyway, it's a good experience and getting an award is a bonus. Keep up the learning, Javier! Well done!
