Gullfoss is located in South Iceland on the Hvítá (White) river which is fed by Iceland´s second biggest glacier, the Langjökull (the glacier that we walked into yesterday).
The mighty Hvítá river falls 100 feet into a crevice in the earth, producing thick mist and frequent rainbows during sunny days. We did not get to see the rainbow due to the light rain when we were there. From the car park, we walked down the stairs and followed the path to get closer to the waterfall.
As we got nearer to the waterfall, it got very windy and we could see water vapour rising instead of falling into the canyon.
We had difficulties taking wefie as it was too windy and misty. After admiring the superb view of Gullfoss, we walked back to the car park when it started raining heavily. We were pretty wet when we got into our car.
The rain did not dampen our spirit as we proceeded to the next stop, Kerid Crater.
