2 Jun 2017 - Iceland Day 8: Goðafoss

On our way to Akureyri, we stopped by another spectacular waterfall in Iceland, Goðafoss or "Waterfall of the Gods".
It always rained without fail whenever we visit any waterfall during this trip so far.  Once again, Jerlene and Javier stayed in the car while we went to snap some photos.
The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 12 meters over a width of 30 meters. The river has its origin deep in the Icelandic highland and runs from the highland through the Bárðardalur valley, all the way from Sprengisandur in the Highlands.
The rock formations in and around the waterfall make it one of the greatest natural wonders in Iceland.
Goðafoss can be easily approachable from either the east or west side. The east side offers the best views for photographers, with paths to the river base, and a good view of Geitafoss, Goðafoss´s little sister. On the west side you can reach the brink of the falls themselves.
