The shuttle only costs $5 return per person, $3 for a child and $10 for a family (2 adults 2 children).
There are a few walking tracks here but the most popular of course is the Cathedral Cove Walk, which is about 45 minutes one-way.
From the starting point, we could vaguely see where we will be heading.Let's go, my little rangers!
There were a lot of photo opportunities along the way which made this walk very interesting. We were glad that we came today as the weather was much better as compared to yesterday.
If you looked closely at the surrounding, you can see many beautiful flora and fauna.
The difficult part of this walk is that there are many up slope and down slope, which can be quite challenging for those who are not physically fit.
After an hour of walk, we finally reached the beach at the foot of the hill.
As we walked through the arch and exited at the other side, we suddenly found this place extremely familiar. To the left is the Cove, perfectly framing the rock rising up out of the sea.
For those who had watched the movie "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian", you would have realized that this was one of the filming sites of the movie. The scene where the Pevensies return to the ruined Cair Paravel was shot here. The filmmakers chose this location because it had a tunnel-like arch, which echoed the train tunnel the children go into before being summoned back into Narnia. To help you recall that scene, here's a short clip of the movie at Cathedral Cove.
And not forgetting my drone, I began to take some aerial shots of this place. Can you spot my drone in the below 2 photos?
Following few shots were taken from my drone. The video still need some editing and once it's done, I'll post it in an upcoming posts.
Jerlene and Javier were having fun playing sands on the beach while I busy flying my drone. We spent about an hour at this magical place. As the heat was getting intense we decided to leave the cove to avoid getting sun burn. We took the same track to return to the starting point.
Along the way, we saw quite a few possum's traps setup by the trees. I was once told by a local during my previous visit to New Zealand that Possum is considered a pest.Jerlene and me walked much faster and while waiting for mommy and Javier, Jerlene had her moment of 看海的日子. :-)
We took the shuttle service back to the visitor car park where our rented car was. As it was lunch time, we drove to a nearby food outlet to have our lunch. Mommy could not resist the ice cream once she saw it!
Our next destination was a farm up in a mountain near Thames. The journey is about 1.5 hrs. Our rented car came with an on board CarPlay software with a dashboard that allowed us to connect our phone to it. It even allows us to play some of the common apps such as Google Map, which was extremely useful.
Before driving up the mountain, we decided to buy some food, drinks and snacks at Pak n Save supermarket in Thames. We then contacted the farm owner (Scott) to inform him that we were driving to the farm now so that he can get prepared.
