2 Dec 2018 - NZ Day 2: Nightingale Falls Farmstay (Shantilly Cottage)

The drive up the mountain to Nightingale Falls Farm Stay Retreat was not an easy feat.  First of all, it's gravel road and it's very narrow.  What's worse was that it's going uphill and it got quite close to the edge of the cliff at some points.  After about 10 minutes of drive, we arrived at a blue gate where we met up with the owner of the farm named Scott.  This was just the first part of the drive.  From this point, we still needed to drive another kilometre of narrower and steeper uneven gravel road.  That's the reason why I mentioned in an earlier post that we actually needed a 4WD for this trip.  In fact, if we did not drive a 4WD car, we had to park our car here, transfer our luggage over to the owner's vehicle and he would then drive us up to his farm.  Anyway, once he confirmed our car was ok to take up the "challenge", I followed him up to his property very very slowly.
There are a few cottages in this property and the one where we booked was called the Shantilly Cottage.
The moment we got down from our car, we were greeted warmly by a beautiful dog named Coco.  It's a very intelligent dog and followed us wherever we went.  It was very well trained and would never entered a guest room.  It would stay outside of the room and quietly wait for us to come out.
Shantilly Cottage comes with two bedrooms with a queen bed and two twin beds.  Both bedrooms feature luxurious bedding, electric blankets and fluffy bath towels.
Located on 45 hectares, Nightingale Falls Farm Stay Retreat features stunning patio views over the Firth of Thames and the Coromandal mountain ranges. The property is home to many horses, lambs, pigs and chickens.  Below was the superb view from our cottage!
While we were unloading our luggage from our car, another two dogs came running to us.  The following two adorable dogs are called Milo and Shelby respectively.
Together with Coco, Milo and Shelby were very eager to show us around the property.  Jerlene and Javier had so much fun playing with all of them.
