This was our second time visiting this amazing Flower Dome. This cavernous, cooled conservatory holds the Guinness World Record for the largest glass greenhouse.
The last time we visited Flower Dome was in March 2020. At that time, the theme of the main showcase was Sakura (Cherry Blossom). This time round, the theme is Carnival of Flowers, which was inspired by the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, the longest-running floral show in Australia. This dazzling showcase held in collaboration with the Toowoomba Regional Council features colourful blooms including native Australian plants like kangaroo paw, grevillea, waratah, manuka, and banksia. At the heart of this visual feast are spectacular floral floats crafted from preserved flowers, such as a Ferris wheel and a captivating carousel with adorable Australian farm animals.
Next to the Central Flower Field is an indoor exhibit, with floral and light display.
At Succulent Garden, we ventured into the desert without experiencing the heat. As water-storing desert plants, succulents belong to families such as Cacti, Aloes and Crassulas. Here are some interesting facts about Flower Dome.
- The Flower Dome's volume is equivalent to 75 Olympic-sized swimming pools
- The Flower Dome is covered with 3,332 glass panels
- Temperature in the Flower Dome ranges from 23°C to 25°C
- The Flower Field Hall accommodates up to 1,000 peopleAfter leaving Flower Dome, we had our dinner at Shake Shack restaurant. Instead of visiting the Cloud Forest next, we decided to visit OCBC Skyway for a sunset view.
