Once we entered that park, we were greeted by Mickey's new friend, Duffy the Disney Bear.
Shanghai Disneyland is approximately three times the size of Hong Kong Disneyland. As such, we had to be selective with the rides and shows. The queue for some of the popular rides can be 2-3 hours. It is recommended to get the fastpass via the mobile app for such rides.
We first entered the Adventure Isle and watched a stage show - "Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack’s Stunt Spectacular". The stunts and effects were amazing though it sounded a bit weird when Jack Sparrow spoke in Chinese.
We explored Treasure Cove a bit before going to FantasyLand.
The first ride that we took was the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Initially we thought it was just another kiddy ride but it turned out to be quite thrilling, at least to Javier. Before this visit he had already said "NO" to all roller coaster rides. Anyway, it was fun!
Within the Snow White Castle, we climbed the castle stairs and passed through a portal into Snow White’s storybook world. Here we took the “Once Upon a Time” Adventure whereby we enter an enchanted dimension filled with wonder, magic and your favorite fairy-tale characters!
Next we winded your way through the maze of Alice’s Wonderland world.
Everyone who existed the maze successfully was welcomed to attend a delightfully mad tea party.
Once again, we went for the Winnie the Pooh ride which we had gone multiple times in Hong Kong Disneyland.
After which we hopped into the Hunny Pot and went for a spin!
We decided to take one last ride before going for lunch. So we took a Voyage to the Crystal Grotto as we journeyed deep into a cavern where favorite Disney tales come alive in a dazzling display of music, light and wonder!
As for lunch, we exited the park and had it at Crystal Jade Restaurant in Disneytown. After we returned from our lunch, we continued our adventure at TomorrowLand. We visited Star Wars Launch Bay where we immersed ourselves in the Star Wars story and encounter iconic characters
Jerlene and Javier even took a photo with R2D2 and a X-Wing pilot.
TRON Lightcycle Power Run is one of the main attractions in TomorrowLand but none of us dare to challenge this thrill ride. Anyway, we were unable to get the fastpass for this ride and the queue was more than an hour.
Instead we took the following Jet Packs ride. Javier and mommy felt that this ride was more thrilling than the earlier mine train ride. After the ride, Javier complained that he shouted for my help during the ride but I did not come to him......sigh......even if I wanted, I couldn't...... :-(
Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue was one of our favourite rides as we can keep going again and again without having to queue much. We did the same at Hong Kong Disneyland as well.
As it's winter, the sky turned dark very early. However the park was beautiful after all the lights up.Our final fastpass was for the Peter Pan's Flight ride. We hopped onto a flying ship and drifted by with Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and the Never Land gang to the enchanted skies!
As we still had sometimes before the fireworks started, we visited an enchanted gallery exhibit at Gardens of Imagination before coming face-to-face with the world-famous Mickey Mouse!
The finale was of course the dazzling fireworks at the Enchanted Story Castle. Summoning breathtaking projections, lasers, fountains and much more, Mickey transforms the castle into an amazing new world—and awakens the dreamer inside us all!
It was a fun-filled day at Shanghai Disneyland. The park was much crowded than Hong Kong Disneyland and I cannot imagine the crowd here during summer or public holidays.
