4 Jun 2019 - Busan Day 4: Haeundae Beach (Sand Festival)

There are several beaches in Busan and Haeundae Beach is the most famous beach.  As such, we decided to visit it this morning.  We took the subway line 1, changed to line 2 at Seomyeon and alighted at Haeundae station.  As we walked towards the beach, we saw lots of flowery decorations along the road with banners saying "Haeundae Sand Festival".
We continued on down the road and admired all the colourful flowers along the way.
Before reaching the beach, we decided to have our lunch at the Korean restaurant below.
The Pork, Rice Sausage, Soup and KimChi were excellent.
From the restaurant, we crossed a main road and arrived at the beach.  The first thing we saw was a huge castle-like sand sculpture.  So this is Haeundae Sand Festival!
We then did a search on the internet to find out more.  The Annual Haeundae Sand Festival was actually held from May 24-27, meaning it was over.  However, the sand sculptures can be seen until June 9, 2019.  So we came at the right time to be able to see such amazing artwork, which was unexpected.
With the theme “When Music meets Sand,” sand artists from eight different countries including U.S.A., Japan, China, Belgium, and Canada created sand sculptures with a music theme. Music based on each sculpture will be played nearby for visitors to enjoy the sound and sight of the festival.
As the main event was over, this place was not crowded which was good.  However, the sun was scorching.
The white sand beach is roughly 1.5km long, over a 30~50m wide area, creating a beautiful coastline before a shallow bay, making Haeundae Beach perfect for swimming.  However under such hot weather, I do not see many swimmers.
