Today, we were going to spend the whole day at Everland, South Korea's largest theme park. It's a challenge to get to Everland by public transportation which can take up to 2 hours. As such, we had booked a shuttle bus that will directly bring us to Everland in almost half the time. The pickup venue nearest to our hotel is City Hall.
So Everland, here we come! The bus dropped us at the area where we took the free shuttle bus to Everland. After we alighted, Javier was having motion sickness. So we slowed down and decided to find a resting place before entering the theme park.
Sad to say, we had made a mistake when planning for this visit. It was extremely crowded in the park because today was a public holiday (Memorial Day) in Korea. During planning, we tried to avoid rainy days and weekends but had forgotten to check for public holiday. Anyway, since we were already there, we will just try to enjoy the day.
The Global Fair is situated nearest to the entrance of Everland. Here there are many stores selling fashion clothes, toys, dolls, souvenirs, candies, cookies, snacks and chocolates. One will not miss the beautiful Magic Tree right in the middle of this area.
Next we turned left and visited Zootopia where we could see wild animals, aquatic animals and birds. At the Orang Utan enclosure, there was one which was extremely "naughty". While I was taking a video of the older one playing with a piece of cloth, suddenly the younger one appeared right in front of me showing me his teeth. It got me a shock.
We then visited the Panda World.
Before going into the actual Panda enclosure, there was a section where Jerlene and Javier tried out a VR telescope and learnt about Pandas on an interactive screen.
These giant cuddly Pandas was imported from Sichuan, China.
After we completed the visit in Zootopia Zone, we had our lunch at Oriental restaurant which was located right in front of the Magic Tree. They sell really good noodles.
After lunch, we took the cable to another section of Everland.
The moment we exited the cable car station, we happened to witness the Everland parade. There were beautiful floats and wonderful performers dancing down the street.
We then tried out our driving skills at the bumper cars attraction. It's always fun to either bump and avoid a bump from other drivers in the restricted area.
We would not consider a day in a theme park complete without Popcorns and Candy Floss.
If you like to see the beautiful flowers and colorful European style building then Magic Garden is a great place to visit. The surrounding environment is filled with beautiful scenery, very relaxing and romantic.
At this point, it started to drizzle, as forecasted. As such, we tried to visit those indoor attractions.
At the VR adventure, we put on the Gear VR spectacles and virtually experienced an exciting ride on a 4D chair.
The other attraction that we enjoyed is the Rotating House. It's an indoor attraction with a 360° rotating dark room where the whole world appears to turn upside down.
We stayed at the park till around 9pm.
It was still raining when we left the park. We took the Everland shuttle bus back to the area where we boarded the shuttle bus back to Myeongdong.
While walking back to our hotel, we came upon a Korean restaurant and decided to have our dinner there. Javier enjoyed the sugar seaweed and requested for refill multiple times.
All the hot food tasted especially good during cool weather. 😊
