6 Dec 2018 - NZ Day 6: Whakapapa Village
The first building that we saw as we approached Whakapapa Village was Chateau Tongariro Hotel. It stood prominently by the side of the road with Mount Ruapehu as the backdrop.
In the centre, we could find hiking track information and current conditions, weather, ski field, avalanche reports, exhibits on the volcanoes, Maori mythology, flora and fauna etc.
Right outside of the visitor centre, we had a superb view of Mount Ruapehu.
