With our one-day metro pass, we took the metro from Loyang Road (龙阳路) to Zhongxing Road (中兴路). It's a 5-minutes' walk from the metro station to our accommodation at Novotel Shanghai JingAn.
We reached the hotel at about 8:30am. Initially we thought our room won't be ready this early and wanted to leave our luggage at the hotel concierge. However, the receptionist told us that they can get our room ready in about half an hour time. It's great that this hotel allowed us to check in early as long as there is room available, unlike those in Japan that strictly go by check-in time. We waited at the hotel lobby for slightly more than 30 minutes and managed to get our room keys.
We booked a Superior Room with One King-size Bed of a decent size (40 sqm). There is a separate bathroom, minibar, safe box, 50-inch LCD TV, free WIFI, and windows.
Below is a view from our room and there is a school right next to the hotel. Every morning, the students will assemble at the basketball courts to exercise, before jogging to their classrooms in a very orderly manner.
At first, we were thinking whether to take a quick nap since we did not sleep much on the flight. However, we decided to start exploring Shanghai instead as this is quite a short trip. Our first goal was to find a place to have a good cup of coffee and had some food.
