21 Mar 2024 - Shanghai Day 3: Yu Garden (豫园)

Nestled amidst the bustling metropolis of Shanghai lies Yu Garden (豫园), a captivating oasis of tranquility and artistic beauty. This 460-year-old classical garden, meticulously designed during the Ming Dynasty, offers a glimpse into the soul of Chinese garden architecture and a welcome respite from the urban chaos.
Exquisite pavilions, halls, and tea houses dot the landscape. Each is adorned with intricate carvings, calligraphy, and traditional paintings, reflecting the artistry of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
One thing we must try during this trip to Yu Garden was to have the huge soup bun (大汤包).
We actually did buy the big soup bun in our last trip here.  However, before we could taste it, Jerlene and Javier had sucked dry all the soup in the bun.  Now nobody would be "fighting" the soup with us.
Yuyuan Old Town (豫园老街) is a maze of narrow alleyways lined with shops, restaurants, and tea houses.
Love the ancient building architecture all around the place.
As we were wandering along one of the alleyways, we saw a Chocolate Museum which was free to enter.
It was really amazing to see animals, handbags, shoes and other accessories all made of chocolates.
We waited for the sky to turn dark so that we could witness the beautiful lightings of the entire place.
There were visitors who rented ancient China costumes to take pictures with the beautiful ancient settings all around.  We saw some tourists asking to take photos with them as well.
