From Osu Shotengai Shopping Street, we walked to Wakamiya Plaza, nestled beneath the elevated Nagoya Expressway above Wakamiya-Ōdōri. At its heart is a fountain combined with a whimsical karakuri (mechanical) clock, often attracting visitors who pause to watch and snap photos.
We saw PARCO across the road, but we decided to visit it later.Next, we walked along Wakamiya-Ōdōri Street towards Shirakawa Park where Nagoya City Science Museum is located.
Featuring the world’s largest planetarium dome (35 m diameter), the building itself is a landmark.
To the east of the Science Museum is Nagoya City Art Museum.
Shirakawa Park is a great place for casual strolls, bird feeding, picnics and group events, such as dance practice, appealing to youth.
There is also a large Sundial with zodiac signs drawn on the base.On our way back to PARCO, we passed by a traditional Japanese Shrine and Temple.
