Nestled at the foot of Inuyama Castle’s hill, Sankō Inari Shrine (三光稲荷神社) has long served as a spiritual guardian of the castle.
A photogenic tunnel of vivid red torii gates welcomes visitors, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of Kyoto's Fushimi Inari. Inside the precincts are shrines like Sarutahiko, Himekame, and Zenarai Inari.
Worshippers can perform the ‘coin-washing’ ritual, washing money in shrine water to invoke prosperity.
Mentioned in ancient Engi-Shiki records, Haritsuna Shrine (針綱神社) is one of the Five Owari Shrines, originally sited on the castle grounds and relocating in 1882. The shrine is revered for blessings related to childbirth, warding off evil, safe delivery, fertility, and traffic safety.Haritsuna Shrine is central to the Inuyama Festival, an annual spring event with ornate floats and mechanical puppet performances, designated as an important intangible folk cultural property.
The shrine offers a serene and elegant setting with clean architectural lines, handsome garden surroundings, and views toward the city and surrounding hills.
