After the long walk at Pujiang Suburban Park earlier in the day, we returned to Shanghai downtown and got ourselves cool down at Joy City in Jing'an district. The mall is similar to Wangfujing Xiyue Shopping Center (王府井喜悦) in Beijing which we visited last year.
First, we had our dinner at 小杨生煎.The crowning jewel of the mall is the "Sky Ring" Rooftop Ferris Wheel. Perched dramatically on the rooftop of the North Block, it is celebrated as China's first cantilevered rooftop Ferris wheel.
Rather than focusing on traditional, high-end luxury retail, Jing'an Joy City targets consumers aged 18 to 35. It blends massive anime, comic, and gaming (ACG) subcultures with experiential entertainment and romantic, industrial architecture. As mentioned earlier, this Shanghai trip was tailored for Jerlene.
This massive complex spans roughly 163,000 square meters and has earned a reputation as Shanghai's ultimate "youth lifestyle and pop-culture sanctuary."
We then went up to the roof top to have a closer look at the Ferris Wheel. There were many eateries around the ferris wheel.
