25 Aug 2026 - NKG Day 5: Nanjing Aqua City (南京鹏欣·水游城)

After we were done exploring the Confucius Temple (Fuzimiao - 夫子庙), we walked over to the nearby Aqua City to escape from crowd and outdoor heat. Nanjing Aqua City (南京水游城) is a vibrant, modern shopping and entertainment complex located in the historic Qinhuai District of Nanjing. The mall covers a massive area of approximately 167,000 square meters and introduces an immersive, experiential environment that contrasts beautifully with Nanjing’s traditional historical landmarks.

Modeled after Japan's Canal City Hakata, the complex features flowing water as its central design theme.

Following structural renovations completed in July 2023, Aqua City dedicated nearly 6,000 square meters to ACGN (Anime, Comic, Games, and Novel) subcultures on its third floor. As expected, we spent most of our time in the mall on this floor. We left at about 9:30pm when the shops were about to shut.

By the time we returned to our room, it was close to 10:20pm. Below was the night view of Nanjingnan Railway Station from our room.
