The mall that I was referring to earlier is called The Ring Live (鑫耀·光环Live). This is a 100,000-square-meter mega-complex which is not just a place to shop. Developed as a landmark "urban playground for young creators" (年轻智造玩新场), it seamlessly integrates retail, culture, sports, and ecology into a multi-dimensional lifestyle hub.
Before exploring the mall, we had our lunch at Majiyong (马记永).
The interior layout and consumer experience of the mall are intentionally divided into three distinct lifestyle zones. In the Beat zone where the theme is "Trend & Urban Culture", it is dedicated to Gen-Z trends, street style, gaming, and digital subcultures.
As we stepped outside of the mall, we came to the Art zone with a key landmark called "LIVERSE" Theater (音宇宙). Designed by the world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma, this striking venue is affectionately dubbed the "Shanghai version of the Bird's Nest (鸟巢)" due to its intricate facade. It functions as a cultural centerpiece hosting immersive music, theater, and digital entertainment experiences.
Vibe zone is all about Sports and Energy which caters to fitness enthusiasts with modern facilities for indoor sports, climbing, high-energy workouts, and health-centric retailers. There were also outdoor courts for rackets sports.
