Next stop was the Khao Yai National Park Visitor Center, a crucial hub for those looking to explore this magnificent natural sanctuary.
The visitor center provides essential information about the park, including maps, wildlife details, and safety guidelines. It's an excellent place to learn about the park's diverse ecosystems and conservation efforts. There was a small cafe by a river with tables and chairs which is a good place for visitors to rest and prepare for their explorations.
Khao Yai National Park offers a variety of walking trails, catering to different fitness levels and interests. There is a popular and relatively easy trail that leads to the picturesque Kong Kaew Waterfall and its starting point is right next to the Visitor Center. As such, we decided to go for it. The trail started with a suspension bridge over a river.
The walking trail allows for a deeper connection with nature, enabling visitors like us to appreciate the park's beauty and tranquility. The trail skirts through rainforest alternating with dry forest.
We saw various natural plants along the way, including the valuable agarwood. The trail is a 1.2 km loop and typically takes about an hour to complete.
There is another wooden bridge that led us to Kong Kaew Waterfall.
Kong Kaew Waterfall is a pretty small one and frankly we were unimpressed by it, especially when we had been to those majestic waterfalls in Iceland some years back.
Overall, it was a great workout for all of us. We had a short break at the Visitor Center before moving on to our next stop in Khao Yai National Park.
