23 Dec 2024 - BKK Day 1 (Khao Yai): Dinner at Midwinter Khao Yai

Before our trip, we were told by many people around us that we must make a reservation at Midwinter Khao Yai in order to have dinner there.  We did not make a booking but decided to arrive at the restaurant early (about 5pm) to try our luck.  We told ourselves, as we will be staying at Khao Yai for four nights, if we could not get a table today, we will make a reservation on the spot for one of the following nights.  Seemed like we were lucky and they managed to get us a table.  We were given a choice of indoor or outdoor dining.  We chose outdoor which is what most people would choose.
Located in a wide grassland, Midwinter provides all visitors with extraordinary experiences and many good moments.  As Christmas is just two days away, the atmosphere here was fantastic.  Christmas trees were setup all over the compound.
Midwinter Khao Yai is housed within a stunning white castle, reminiscent of a fairytale setting. The elegant architecture, combined with meticulously landscaped gardens, creates a magical atmosphere that transports diners to another world.
As mentioned earlier, they have both indoor and outdoor dining.
We were seated at the edge of the outdoor dining area where we had an unblocked view of the entire farmland.
Though Midwinter Khao Yai is not really a farm, there are several greenhouses and a huge barn on the premise.
Midwinter Khao Yai is renowned for its exceptional culinary creations.  Though it is not a Michelin-starred restaurant, it has been recommended by the Michelin Guide for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024).  Following were the dishes that we ordered.
The pork knuckle at Midwinter Khao Yai is a popular and highly rated dish.  It had super crispy skin with soft & tender flesh.  Best dish of our dinner.
A good meal will have to end with great desserts.  The unique thing was that the ice cream here was served with spicy salt.
Halfway through our dinner at about 7:20pm, the lights suddenly dimmed down.  It was the daily light show where images and animations were projected on the building.
Midwinter Khao Yai offers more than just a meal. The restaurant also hosts live music performances, adding to the enchanting ambiance.
After dinner, we walked to the greenhouses and the barn which were beautifully lighted up.
There was an Art Exhibition with art pieces drawn by local kids in one of the greenhouses.
The barn house was a huge building but we were not allowed to enter.  However, we were able to peek into the interior through the glass windows.
We proceeded to walk towards the Midwinter Market.
The entire place felt so magical, especially when all the Christmas trees were lighted up.
Just before we left, we visited Midwinter Street Market.
Here's a video showing highlights of our visit to Midwinter Khao Yai.
