29 Dec 2024 - BKK Day 7 (Bangkok): Shopping Mall after Shopping Mall

We did not have anything specific planned for today.  After having breakfast this morning, we walked to the river side within the hotel compound and had a nice view of Chao Phraya River.
After that, we took a Grab ride to MBK Center.  Along the way, we saw several unique buildings and of course, many promotional signboards for Netflix Squid Game 2 series.
MBK is a sprawling eight-story mall known for its affordable prices and bustling atmosphere. There is a wide selection of clothing, accessories, and souvenirs, often at negotiable prices.
It's also a go-to spot for electronics, mobile phones, and computer accessories.
There is even an Animate store which Jerlene and Javier were excited about when we were in Japan during out last 2 trips.
Below is a row of cubicles for visitors to have some Karaoke sessions.
When we came to a gaming arcade, it's no surprise that we will be spending few hours here.
After lunch, we walked over to Siam Discovery.  It features concept stores, interactive displays, and a focus on lifestyle and innovation.
We saw a mix of international and Thai brands, with an emphasis on emerging designers and unique products.  There is also Madame Tussauds wax museum.
Next, we proceeded to Siam Center, known for its cutting-edge fashion and youthful energy.
Further down the road is Siam Paragon, one of Bangkok's most prestigious malls, offering a world-class shopping experience. It's home to a vast selection of luxury brands, from fashion and jewelry to watches and cars.   It also includes a cinema, an aquarium (Siam Ocean World), and a concert hall.
We continued down the road and arrived at centralwOrld.
It is one of the largest shopping complexes in Southeast Asia, offering a diverse range of retail and entertainment options.  The mall features a cinema, an ice rink, and a variety of entertainment venues.
Initially we thought of visiting the Pop Mart store in the mall but when we saw the snaking queue into the store, we decided to give it a miss.
On our way to Platinum Fashion Mall, we had to cross a bridge over Saen Saep Canal, the longest man-made canal in Thailand.  The canal was built by King Rama III in 1837 to transport goods during Thailand's war with neighboring countries.
Platinum Fashion Mall is a wholesale and retail mall specializing in fashion and accessories.  It is a crowded and energetic mall, perfect for those seeking bargains and the latest fashion trends.  However, we are not the type who are good at bargaining.  As such, we walked one round without buying anything and left.
We then walked slowly back to CentralWorld where we planned to look for a Japanese restaurant called Fuji to have our dinner.
When we were in Bangkok 18 years ago, we found the food at Fuji restaurant was amazing.  It left us with such a deep impression that we had to have another meal there in this trip.  So here we were.  :-)
After dinner, we hoped to get a Grab car back to our hotel but due to the heavy traffic and road closure around this area, we could not get any driver.  So no choice, we took the metro to Krung Thon Buri station, where we then walked back to our hotel which took about 15 mins.
