11 Jun 2024 - Tokyo Day 2: Statue of Liberty and Rainbow Bridge

Do you know there is a Statue of Liberty in Tokyo?  Yes, it's right here in Odaiba, standing tall against the backdrop of the Tokyo skyline and the iconic Rainbow Bridge.
This Statue of Liberty in Odaiba isn't the original. It was originally a temporary installation gifted by France in 1998 to celebrate the friendship between the two nations. The popularity of the statue was so overwhelming that a permanent replica, one-seventh the size of the New York landmark, was erected in 2000.
The true magic lies in the juxtaposition of the Statue of Liberty with the Rainbow Bridge.  The best vantage point to capture both the statue and the Rainbow Bridge is from the pedestrian walkway called Skywalk.
Completed in 1993, the Rainbow Bridge is a double-decker suspension bridge. The upper level carries the Shuto Expressway, a major highway, while the lower level features the Yurikamome train line, local roads, and a pedestrian walkway.
We later had our dinner at Aqua City, another shopping mall and entertainment complex in Odaiba.
