We started our day by walking to Tsukiji Outer Market from our hotel at Ginza. It's a short 15 mins walk, but sadly, I sprained my ankle along the way. It's not very serious as I still managed to walk without support though a bit slower.
While the famed Tsukiji Inner Market, once the world's largest fish market, relocated to Toyosu in 2018, the vibrant Tsukiji Outer Market remains a must-visit for any Tokyo foodie. This lively district offers a sensory overload of delicious sights, enticing smells, and delectable treats, all within a few walkable blocks.Beyond the fresh ingredients, Tsukiji Outer Market is a paradise for prepared food lovers. Grilled squid was something that few of us could not resist.
We decided to have an early lunch so as to beat the lunch crowd later. For some reasons, we all had craving for an authentic Udon meal at that time. We started looking for an Udon restaurant and found one at the end of the street.
This restaurant specializes in udon and stews. The carefully stewed meat and chewy udon noodles are a perfect match, and the chef uses a seafood broth that brings out the flavor of the shellfish. After lunch, we walked through a building where we were greeted by colorful displays of glistening fish, fruits and vegetables, and an array of cured meats. Specialty shops showcase an abundance of seafood, from plump scallops and glistening tuna slices to exotic sea urchin and eel. Butchers proudly display their cuts of meat, while vendors tempted us with seasonal produce.
