As we still had some times before the sky turned dark, we decided to visit Cowaramup (The Cow Town) before driving back to Margaret River township. We passed by this town this morning on our way to Busselton. At that time, we found this town very interesting as everything within this town is related to cows.
This town is famous for the 42 life-sized fibreglass cows and calves dotted around the streets, parks and shops. Cowaramup was actually named by the Wadandi people after the Cowara bird, a purple-crested lorikeet that once lived in the area. Locals refer to it as ‘Cow-town’, but the full name sounds like kuh-wara-mup.There is a golden cow statue standing on top of a pole in the park.
We were attracted to a colourful shop, "Candy Cow" that sells all sorts of candies and sweets.
