It's time for a short overseas trip in this year's June school holiday. We will be travelling around Perth in the upcoming week. The last time we visited Perth was about 11 years ago when both Jerlene and Javier were still very young (5 and 3 years old). In this trip, we will be visiting different parts of Perth. Click here to view details of our previous Perth trip in 2012.
We reached Changi Airport Terminal 3 at about 10pm. I had some issues with my Australian VISA during check in due to a change in passport after our last trip to Adelaide-Melbourne. As my VISA was tied to my old passport number, it became a mismatch and I need to re-apply for a new one. Fortunately, I managed to get it sorted out via the Australian VISA App within 20 mins.
Our flight (SQ225) departed at 5 minutes past midnight. We had our meal before going for a short night rest.Perth is only a 5-hours flight away from Singapore, and we touched down at Perth Airport at about 5am when most shops were closed.
We waited for the car rental company (Europcar) to open at 8am to collect our car (MG HS) for this trip. We did not notice the rainbow in the background while collecting the car until we saw the below photo. In fact, we saw a lot more rainbows throughout this trip, so read on.
As usual, the first place where we visit for any self-drive road trip is always a supermarket. We drove to the nearby Belmont Forum Mall where there are Woolworths, Coles, Big W, Kmart etc. We spent more than an hour to stock up on food, drinks, tit bits and mobile data sim card for the upcoming week-long road trip.
